A woman accused of stealing more than $100,000 in money and jewelry from an elderly couple she was supposed to be taking care of got the couple to lend her much of the money, according to court records.
Daisy Lee Joubert has pleaded not guilty to eight counts of financial elder abuse, according to court records.
She was arrested March 25 on accusations she stole from Ileen and Norman Jonas, who live at the Sun City Palm Desert Community. They are in poor health and require around-the-clock care, according to a declaration in support of an arrest warrant.
Joubert is accused of forging checks on their bank account and took jewelry and other items from their home and pawned them.

Calif. seems to lead prosecuting ethical misconduct as the felony it is.
In our case, it's WFBank. State agencies allow the abuse. Try and file criminal charges against a court officer, executor or trustee and see where it gets you.
Nevada Dept of Aging Services, Washoe cty. DA & State Bar refused investigation when complaints filed. To quote:” its nothing out of the ordinary”.
Family Courts sets up various parties to exploit senior deaths, taking advantage with the dissolving and breakup of families. It’s quite an industry, court officers feeding income to state officials with a few select others thrown in.
Unethical behavior is a principal reason the ‘tali-ban & Al-Qaida’ denounce western society. Ethical conduct is mostly scrutinized in hi-public officials & ignored for the bureaucratic morass.
Whether or not she forged checks should be an easy thing to determine.
And if she did (which she probably did), then why did she plead not guilty?
I think if a person pleads not guilty and there is a mountain of evidence against him/her (like this case), an extra year in jail should be added to the sentence for lying to the court.
I am steaming once again.
Daisy Lee Joubert is a caregiver alright, caring for herself first.
This is the tip of the iceburg.
If we could only go back to old time real justice, that would be a real warning deterrent to others to proceed with caution: BEWARE.
If a thief found guilty of crimes had their hands removed; the stealing and fraud would stop, permanently yes?
Unethical behavior doesn't shock people anymore. It's everywhere we turn.
Nontheless, it's sickening and it's very scary.
Another case of preying on the helpless.
She should be locked up and the key thrown away.
How can anyone use the word - trust?
Trust does not exist - how sad.
