Love this Daily News post exposing the fact that the national guardian system is and has been, riddled with corruption fueled by a lack of oversight.... I don't think Billy Joel had this in mind with New York State Of Mind .... (But now I need a little give and take, The New York Times, The Daily News...) I am sure that even a cursory look into probate courts by law enforcement could reveal much. Joe Roubicek
If every state passed a law prohibiting the appointment of attorneys as guardians of the person or estate, I believe there would be at least 50% fewer cases of abuse and exploitation.

And New York got worse, not better. There was a later expose of guardians billing wards who had died, some years before....
