The Rev. Samuel Boykin, a nephew of the Alzheimer’s- stricken Phillips, estimates the alleged rip-off cost the judge and his heirs $20 million to $30 million.
A spokeswoman for DA Kenneth Thompson said his office is reviewing documents Boykin submitted.
One guardian was accused in 2006 of improperly paying herself out of Phillips’ assets. Then-DA Charles Hynes referred the case to the Appellate Division, and the guardian was suspended for taking $327,000.

I followed the Phillips case when it was in the news and am happy it's being resurrected.
After so many years, I was sure the perps would get away with it.
District Attorney brings hope that his office is a 'muck raker' looking at the parade of people billing. Therein lies the problem of those who appear to be working for ward. We know better 'working' = billable hours which is a feeding frenzy that we know is unnecessary but the reason the protection industry is raking in the $ at a record rate.
Keep in mind if this injustice can happen to a Judge --- OMG is the message and these money suckers have their site on the Baby Boomers to continue to feed their greed.
I hope and pray Judge Phillips wasn't drugged up like most wards are.

No one's ever been charged as far as I know, Sylvia. But maybe it will get done this time. I hope and pray it does!
