Satellite Broadcast: "Health Implications of Caregiving"
It is very wise to go into caregiving with your eyes (and heart) wide open.
ReplyDeleteYou need to know what the implications are--
You need to consider how long you'll be caregiving, to what extent--what can you and can't you do? What would be a deal breaker.
You need to have multiple plans in place--care resources, care facilities lined up if and when the time comes.
You need to have a plan on how to care for yourself, your marriage and your career.
If not, caregiving can consume you.
I cared for my mom full-time, in my home for close to three years, and I'm immensely grateful for this experience--but I do wish I had had more of an overall plan, had thought things through just a little more.
Thanks for this blog and the resources you mentioned.
I'll pass them along!
