Family Battling Guardianship May Go to Jail

Nieces of 93-year old Lydia Tyler say their aunt was targeted with an unwarranted guardianship as a tactic for looting assets from her multi-million dollar estate. A legal battle to have the guardianship revoked and to compel an accounting of her financial status may land two of the nieces, Mary Lynn Drabik and Mary Sue Richards, both of Phoenix, in jail.

The two women say Cook County Probate Judge Maureen E. Connors has allowed the counsel for one of the delinquent fiduciaries to press false “direct criminal contempt” charges as a result of the women’s continued pursuit within the civil court system to protect their aunt’s interests from what they believe is a coordinated effort on the part of Tyler’s guardians and associated parties to deplete her estate.

Ruling was issued Friday, May 29, to bar Drabik and Richards from further involvement in resolving their aunt’s affairs. Judge Connors has scheduled ruling for 10a.m. Wednesday, June 3, on the contempt charges. Drabik and Richards face a fine of up to $500 and/or three days in Cook County jail.

Guardianships have become controversial as families across this country learn the increased commonality of these probate instruments being abused as targeted individuals experience a deprivation of their liberty and a looting
of their assets.

Photo ops as well as interviews with the family will be available.

  1. Sadly, this is a typical guardian dirty trick -- malign the family and take the heat and focus off of what the guardian is doing to the ward.

Denying the nieces involvement is harmful to Lydia Tyler.

Judge Maureen E. Connors should be disciplined severely. I hope this family has filed complaints on her.

  2. The nieces are right in their conclusions. The goal of the guardianship racket is to leave the ward or the estate with: $00.00

Cook County Probate Judge Maureen E. Connors needs to refresh her memory about the duties of a judge.

Judge Connors deserves a grade of: F

Judge Connors is further enabling the probate loop of crooks to continue with their addiction, their need for power, control and gree.

Judge Connors is not being fair to the family members.

Any wonder Cook County Illinois is known as: Crook County?

Mary Lynn Drabik and Mary Sue Richards, keep fighting for your Aunt Lydia Tyler.

  3. This is so wrong and it is not uncommon. Guardianship is not about what is best for the ward, but what is best for the plunderer's.

Best wishes to the nieces attempting to expose the corruption in Chicago!

    This must stop!

  5. Yes, exactly. The guardianship is looting assets from the estate and these nieces have the courage and bravery to fight for their beloved aunt.

Bravo for not backing down, Mary Lynn Drabik and Mary Sue Richards. Bravo.

And if you do go to jail, I hope the media is there with 1,000 cameras!

  9. Oh yes, these corrupt Judges and Guardians
    use their legal expertise
    and secret hearings to
disparage family members who fight for the rights of their loved ones these 'criminals' are focused on 'leagally' stealing assets and money from because the laws governing this Probate/Guardianship SCAM
are too broad and the court
operates in secret that prevents scrutiny of their corrupt proceedings and when family members continue to fight LEGALLY in court, they are unjustly ruled in willful contempt of court and sent to jail.

Guardianship is nothing more than an abuse of authority with opportunities provided for the unscrupulous to profit
    while tearing family's apart
