Former Attorney to be Released

Former Flint attorney Shannon Pitcher is about to be released from state prison, two years after she admitted to embezzling money from the vulnerable clients she was supposed to protect.

A spokesman for the Michigan Department of Corrections confirmed Pitcher has been granted conditional parole effective Oct. 20, closing a chapter in one of the most sensational white collar criminal cases in recent Genesee County history.

Pitcher's release comes even as the county court system continues to grapple with which of more than two dozen alleged victims are still owed money investigators seized from Pitcher after her 2006 arrest.

Pitcher will have served slightly more than her minimum 23-month sentence but far less than her maximum 10 years when she is freed.

  3. It sounds like somebody's keeping track to be sure she pays back the money to those she stole from.

    That's good, at least.

  4. Wonder if she'll try to practice law again. I think usually when a lawyer is disbarred, it's for a specific time period. I hope in her case it was forever.

  5. Shannon Pitcher is a financial predator, an evil vulture with a criminal mind - watch her she is a serious threat to society.

    Truth in sentencing laws needed?

I'm getting the message: CRIME PAYS.

As long as our legislators, the brilliant ones who draft and pass these weak wimpy weepy sentencing guidelines deserve what they force us to accept withoug being heard.

Those who are showing mercy to the perps at the expense of the victims deserve to be victims of crimes, including those who hand down less time in prison than the prosecutors ask for, less time than the maximum especially for anyone is any position of trust, a fiduciary NO MERCY ever!

Thank you NASGA for keeping us informed about the real news that directly affects our lives.

  7. Bring back the: Scarlet Leter!!!!

These financial predators must be "marked", tagged, branded so we can see them coming and run.

How else would anyone know? Be able to protect themselves?

Answer: they won't know which = more victims.

There are two types of people: Predators and their Prey

I am so sick and tired of people going after the weaker of our society.

I have a few solid (not policically correct, sorry) suggestions that would guarantee ensure that these perps including this perp is unable to prey on anyone, ever.

    Ideas?
