DCF Worker Arrested for Fraud & Grand Theft

A case worker for the state Department of Children and Families has been arrested on charges of stealing from an elderly woman with dementia whose case she had been assigned to investigate.

Mindi Marie Berry, 33, is accused by police of copying the 85-year-old Palm Beach woman's financial documents and making ATM withdrawals and debit card purchases from the woman's bank account — to the tune of more than $1,500.

When confronted, Berry told Palm Beach police detectives that she knew the woman had already been the victim of identity theft and thought that her actions would be blamed on the previous culprit, according to an arrest report.

Berry was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on charges of organized scheme to defraud, grand theft from a person 65 years or older, fraudulent use of a credit card and fraudulent use of personal I.D. information.

  6. I'd very much like to know exactly WHO in DCF was monitoring her cases since she was on probation. God only knows how many other people's lives she ruined in her short stint at "helping" people.

  7. Mrs Berry was under tremendous stress and was not dealing with it well. Her doctor way overpercribed her the WRONG medicine and this led to a breakdown. Having known her for most of her life I can tell you she has done a tremendous amount of good in her life and as soon as she is well, i am sure this will continue. for those who wonder the person training her was told by Mrs Berry and instead of helping her or going to the police she demanded the ladys info so she could get some too. Mrs Berry refused her. Mrs Berry continues to cooperate with the police as she has from the begining, and hopes to pay restitution. People make mistakes, and this was a big one, but one mistake by age 33, while under the influence of huge amounts of Doctor percribed Narcotics does not make a career criminal.

  8. Mrs Berrys "short stint" at helping people hasnt been that short. She has continually donated time and resources to charities her entire life. What you see here is only a small portion of the facts of this case. Are you aware of the massive amounts of the wrong drugs her doctor percribed her? Did you know that when she confided in the lady training her, the lady demanded to be let in on it and Mrs Berry refused? Did you know that Mrs Berry has cooperated fully with the police and has already sought to pay restitution? Judge not lest ye be Judged! Mrs Berry has had a spotless record for 32 years!! It is not in human nature to change so drastically over such a short period of time. Patience my friends, wait for more info before you judge people.
