Octomom Prevails

A child actors' advocacy group trying to have a guardian appointed to oversee the financial interests of octuplet mother Nadya Suleman was dealt another legal setback Friday when a state appeals court denied its request.

Suleman's attorney Jeff Czech confirmed his client won her appeal to overturn a lower court's ruling granting the appointment of a financial guardian.

"For now let me quote the court: This is an unprecedented, meritless effort by a stranger to a family to seek appointment of a guardian of the estates of the minor children," Czech said.

Gloria Allred, who represents former child actor Paul Petersen, president of a Minor Consideration, which is seeking to become the financial guardian of Suleman's 14 children, could not be immediately reached for comment.

Petersen's organization wants to oversee the financial interests of the children because he believes Suleman has a conflict of interest regarding her contract with Eyeworks UK Group Ltd. that allows the octuplets and their six older siblings to be featured on a reality show.

  1. This woman probably needs psychiatric care. What right does she have to farm kids for income-producing purposes - especially without a husband?

  2. I am not an octomom or octuplet fan. We have a population explosion in this country (and world), so I do not promote designed multiple births.

BUT, Paul Peterson and Gloria Allred have no business in their lives, regardless of how I feel about the situation itself.

  3. She may need psychiatric care, Anon1, but that's not the issue really.

And she's not caused the kids any harm thus far.

  4. Any high number multiple birth kids will be followed all their lives by the media. They have no choice; the media is thirsty.

  5. I do not keep tabs on the octos either. At the same time, I am always glad when government doesn't get its head in anybody's business. I am glad she's prevailed thus far.

  6. Please correct your post: Petersen and his organization are NOT seeking to be the guardians of Octomom's brood. Petersen is petitioning the court to appoint AN independant guardian for the protection of the kids. Huge difference. Your Association's post suggests a self-interest that simply does not exist. Petersen deserves nothing but praise, respect and admiration for devoting his own resources to ensure someone other than a publicity-craving birth-addict mother of dubious motives and mental health is looking out for those children.
