OR: Elder Investment Fraud and Financial Exploitation Prevention Program

Oregon has joined 22 states in a new effort project senior citizens from investment fraud.

The national effort is called the Elder Investment Fraud and Financial Exploitation Prevention Program. The program will train medical professionals to recognize seniors who may be vulnerable to scams because of cognitive impairment or Alzheimer’s disease, and then refer these at-risk patients to securities regulators and adult services professionals.

  1. Guardianship abuse? Are they looking at guardianship abuse at all?

  2. Train medical professionals to look for signs of Alzheimers and then report to APS?

No, this is not a good thing at all.

  3. Elder investment fraud and financial exploitation can be prevented if the offenders were punished harshly.

  4. I don't like it either. Doctors and medical professinals should stay in their own profession -- which is supposed to be making people feel better.

  6. That is amazing. Another scam of protecting the elderly. Who is in charge??? Who is really investigating exploitation???
So far, the Elder abuse and exploitation laws have been ignored by Police, District Attorney's, Dept of Human Services, ...Seniors and People with Disabilities, and even the Oregon Department of Justice, if you are not in the class of the "indigent".They are calling it a Civil matter, even when it is a Criminal act and calls for investigation.
Oregon has been ignoring Senior Victims, while scamming their assets with judicial ok.* years, and still waitinmg for my investments to be returned, because there (documented)was Fraud involved

  7. When does all this begin?? Wait...we have been "Punked"! not funny....while the probate judges are Dragon Boating with the guardians, and the corrupt attorneys that make huge sums of blood money, perhaps they missed this "Investigation". Sue Snell has been disciplined by the Oregon State Bar, is currently being investigated and has at least five complaints with enough merit to refer for investigation by the OSB (waiting for the outcome) still has the ability to "legallY" victimize any person that she can get ahold of.

  8. Strange, one cannot even find a list of the Members of the Governor's Elder Abuse Task Force (Last Report 10/2004) let alone details of this latest bulletin, that Oregon has joined other States in the prevention or training in the prevention of elder abuse. In 2004/005 the members did not know, what their duty was. I contacted everyone, without so much of a response, while the Office of the Governor,could/ or would not give information on enforcement. That seems to be the problem all around. Lots of funds spent on creating programs and even laws, but no mandatory enforcement. Ask a woman who's life and health has been ruined for the past 10 years, for lack of law enforcement taking reports on elder abuse and exploitation by fraud. If there are no physical signs of abuse, the agency to report abuse are not trained to reckognize white collar crimes.

  9. What about those who have suffered brain injuries. Why doesn't anyone ever care about this segment of the population. Programs to prevent financial exploitation are almost always geared towards elders. It's very frustrating to not have access to the help my family so desperately needs.

  10. Once the abuse and exploitation is complete, (and I had all legally executed Probate documents in place), there is NO help, intervention, or legal aid available to an elder person, - if you do not have money to retain the best legal mind in the State. I am 86 years old, and am now threatened with arrest, if I do not let them violate my Civil Rights to examine, what "treasures" I might be hiding in my modest home. I was convicted in CIVIL court for defamation, because I went public with my story of having been robbed of my life's assets by my son and his slimy attorney. eb Oregon
