Growing up in Arkansas I was well aware of the legend of Jerry Eckwood. We were in the same graduating class (though two different towns), both on the Arkansas All-State Football team, but Jerry Eckwood was the most sought after player in the country and rightfully so. He went on to play in the NFL. So, it was sad to read the front page story in the Tennessean in regards to a conservatorship he has been placed under by Judge Randy Kennedy. Mr. Eckwood contests the conservatorship, but we’ve learned contesting is a costly and futile effort in Davidson County’s 7th Circuit Court. And, unfortunately, any conservatorship in this court is questionable based on Judge Kennedy’s involvement. ReplyDeleteeyes wide open on this judge kennedy the only probate judge in davidson county is reason for residents to hit the bricks and flee asap what a set up for a one man show praying for jerry eckwood to be free of this life sentence

ReplyDeleteThis whole situation with Jerry saddens me deeply. I was a high school athlete in Arkansas when Jerry was, and he was literally a world-class talent in that day and age. He has always been a gentleman, taking his hard-knocks along the way with injuries which prevented him (and everyone else) from realizing his real potential. I certainly hope that all of the negativity voiced above is exaggerated. Jerry deserves better. God bless him.
