Where does one turn when you become disabled, vulnerable or old and become unlawfully a victim of the system? There are no kind words for the injustice that Chemung County New York has visited upon my husband, Gary Harvey and me.
My husband a veteran who served his country and fought for our freedom is being denied his.
Until January 2006, my husband was leading a normal life.
Although Gary Harvey is still a living person, he has not been treated as such since 2006 when he fell down a flight of stairs and sustained traumatic brain injury.
Sometime later, his prognosis worsened into a vegetative condition, but this would only be the beginning of his nightmare.
I have been struggling against all odds to save my husband from what I fear could be the same fate that confronted the Schindler family’s beloved Terri Schindler Schiavo.
Can you believe that Adult Protective Services of Chemung County New York who is suppose to “Protect”, a community guardian of and for Gary since March 2007 ... they actually petitioned the county court for permission to kill their ward?

Just do not understand why they won't give it up and return Gary to his wife. What is in it for them? They do not love him or care for him.
ReplyDeleteWho are they really protecting?
Gary's attorney a christian man so he professes on FB certainly does not do what is best for his client. Why does he contiue to prosecute his wife?
Thank you Tim-salem-news for publishing the article
What has this country come to? Is this what our children have to look forward to?
ReplyDeleteThis is disgraceful. There has to be an investigation.
ReplyDeleteThis is a poster case of an abusive guardianship. The guardianship is run for the benefit of the guardianship practitioners and not the ward.
ReplyDeleteShameful!
Gary Harvey should be at home where he is comfortable. Isolating him is torturing him.

ReplyDeleteForced guardianship is the worst possible situation for all Americans but when this happens to a Veteran who sacrificed his time in service to our country for our freedoms the irony of how he lost his freedom, how his wife has been disregarded sets a new level of low.
ReplyDeleteAll those brave souls serving right now, putting their lives and limbs in harms way should know their sacrifices have no effect on their own freedoms.
Sara you are fighting for your man for all the right reasons.
Shame on Chemung County, shame on all those who are keeping man and wife apart.
Discgraceful display of persons addicted to power and control.
Keep it up court thugs, your disrespect for our constitution fuels my fires.
Just think, if Gary didn't have Sara advocating for him, he would have been long dead by now.
ReplyDeleteWe all know they are not protecting Gary --- they are protecting themselves and their financial interests.
ReplyDeleteThis case reeks of SCAM and public corruption.
Why they won't give it up?
ReplyDeleteIt's a coverup - they got to CYA!
And from what I understand, there is a gross conflict of interest involving the lawyers and the judge and their former or present law firm.
Why is she still on the case?
Sarah,
ReplyDeleteThe IA Court of Appeals, last week, reversed a case where a guardian was to be appointed to an elderly woman. The hearing was to be in secrete, with a guardian ad litem present but no attorney to represent the proposed ward (protected person nor notification sent to the family members. The case was reversed and remanded with instructions and a rebuke.
These liars - err, lawyers - are out of control. Their misconduct
ReplyDelete(a euphemism) must be addressed.
How long can the Bar keep coverinig up?
Hi Luis,
ReplyDeleteThe problem, you refer to, will continue until the people wise up and vote in different judges and state legislators. It is a citizen irresponsibility problem. When good is absent, those with ill intentions will rise over us.
