A Fight for Life

An ongoing legal case in New York's Southern Tier is reminiscent of the Terri Schiavo case.

Family Life's Bob Price speaks with Bobby Schindler, Executive Director of the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network, about the legal battle over Gary Harvey's medical care.

  1. What a great interview with Bobby and he made it all about my husband as it should be and should have been all along. Thank you Bob Price and FLN's continued support.

Those in control currently have been successful making this about me and not what is best for my husband and what he would want, need or wish. To be isolated , no meaningful therapy, rehabilitaion, nothing but being warehoused, surgeries, and infections in a stark environment with complete strangers surrounding him who do not care about him or love him.

Last night is another example of what St. Joseph Hospital treats family and their loved ones.

During my visit, after reading scriptures from the bible about the healing powers of Jesus when NANCY came in and told me I could not caress my husband's forearm, giving him comfort and human touch. This is what Gary is forced to live day after day, year after year.

It is people like Nancy that make this Catholic hospital look bad and gives a bad reputation.

How would anyone like to live like this, alone and isolated subject to whomevers whims?

This is the standard routine, practice that we all face with our loved ones, elderly, and the vulnerable that are confined to an institution, hospital or nursing home that are under community, public guardianship.

If this pattern does not stop we are all doomed.

  3. Bobby Schindler is a wonderful man. And he is Gary's guardian angel, Sara.

  4. Yes Laura Bobby is a wonderful, honest man in it for all the right reasons...thing is does Kevin Moshier, Judge O'Shea and all those who would oppose Bobby Schindler know that?

  5. It's hard to hear that a Cathholic hospital and its employees could be so cruel.
And I guess it's because they're represented by the same law firm that the judge worked for - Davidson & O'Mara.

  7. Righht vs Wrong.

Bobby Schindler is on the side of right.

    It's as simple that.

  8. No one would want to live isolated in a stark environment with nothing to look forward to, Sara. No one. Gary's guardians couldn't survive the treatment they have given him.

Let's hope they care enough about him to let him go. Gary has suffered enough. It's time for him to have what he should have had all along - every advantage and treatment afforded him.

  9. I think Gary's guardian has lost his way and now everything has become about legal maneuvering instead of what's best for Gary.

Bobby Schindler is a man of complete credibility and there just couldn't be a better choice.

  10. It's a fight for life and that includes not just life as in Gary breathing, but life as in Gary having treatment and an opportunity to improve his life.

  12. Well Finny, you will have to ask Gary's attorney what he thinks...I bet he is still the puppet for the county and his spots has not changed one bit.

There must be some sort of profit for him to continue to go against his client and what Mr. Harvey would want.

  14. What has always eaten me up about the Harvey case is how nobody would want to be treated as Gary Harvey is treated and yet his guardian and his guardian ad litem see nothing wrong it it. If Gary were their relative, they'd change their tune.

I hope and pray Bobby Schindler is successful for Gary Harvey's sake.
