Kasem was confirmed as missing on
May 12. At that time, his daughter Kerri Kasem began seeking temporary
conservatorship over her father, in order to facilitate a search effort.
In an official statement issued,
the family reports, “We have received confirmation that Casey Kasem has
been found. The family has grave concerns about his health and will do
everything in their power to bring him back home.”
The family has been at odds with
Kasem's wife, Jean, over visitation rights. Jean Kasem has been moving
Casey Kasem from hospital to hospital, and refusing to let his children
see him. Casey Kasem is suffering from Lewy Body Disease, which is a
similar form of dementia to Parkinson's Disease, and has left him barely
able to talk.
According to The New York Daily News, Casey Kasem was found in Washington just hours after Kerri Kasem was able to officially file a missing persons report.
After hearing the news, Kerri Kasem released the following
statement, ”We are grateful to the local authorities for finding my Dad.
We are one step closer to bringing him home.”

Although I am glad he has been found, I also was not worried about his safety. The dispute is amongst family and I don't believe either side would hurt him.
ReplyDeleteThe family will never heal.
ReplyDeleteNumber one good news is Casey is ok. 2nd along with multiple marriages with children sets the stage for additional problems with aging parents.
ReplyDeleteI consider myself fortunate with a traditional uncomplicated family from Leave It To Beaver days and that set the stage for taking care of Mom and Dad into their 90's smoothly with no problems within our family.
The problems and battles came from outside the family unit that caused my parents much distress and bordering on elder abuse in the hospital which is something I never saw coming. So I pass this information on to others who will be dealing with hospital administration when their parents are clients of the hospital. Caution you are entering the danger zone.
I agree with you Barbara
