Justina Pelletier, the sick teen who for the past year has been in state custody under psychiatric care at Boston Children's Hospital, will be moved to a therapeutic facility in Connecticut.
Her parents, Lou and Linda Pelletier of West Hartford, Conn., have waged an angry and highly publicized custody battle for their 15-year-old and continue to fight the state
Only allowed weekly supervised visits, they say their daughter was diagnosed with mitochondrial disease by a top doctor at Tufts Medical Center and her condition has deteriorated for lack of proper medical treatment.
They also allege Justina has been “abused and sexually harassed” at the DCF facility where she is being treated.“We are very disappointed,”
Lou Pelletier told ABCNews.com. “There is no end game here and this could drag on with the Massachusetts DCF for months. They are still in charge and controlling this. This is unacceptable.”
“She is our daughter – this is enough,” he said. “Stop the torture and inhumane treatment of her – and never mind what this has done to our family.”
Pelletier has also pledged to continue a civil rights lawsuit and an emergency appeal in the juvenile appellate court, both underway.

Justina Pelletier Goes Home to Connecticut After a Year in Psyche Hospital
So why on earth could this not have been accomplished a year ago?
ReplyDeleteThis smacks of the usual social worker unprofessionalism -- no matter how wrong you are, never apologize, never explain.
The hospital started this now the state is dug in for the long haul not for the right reasons. I hope people are outraged, paying close attention to what happens when you or your loved ones cross over into the grips of a health care provider.
ReplyDeleteJustina belongs with her parents yet the parents are shut out of decision making process with restricted supervised visitation. Beware and be prepared young or old are at risk for harm.
See ABreachOfTrust.com more will be coming in the near future.
There is a young person held captive in Massachusetts today who is not allowed to participate in religious ceremonies, or visit family without government agents watching. No, it’s not the accused Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. It’s 15-year-old mitochondrial disease patient
ReplyDeleteand non-terrorist Justina Pelletier. U.S. District Court Judge George O’Toole Jr. ruled that the now-20-year-old charged with four deaths and injuring of more than 260 people should be able to see his sisters without an FBI agent present.
“Can you believe it?” That was Jennifer Pelletier’s response when she was told about the ruling. She’s Justina’s older sister — and every visit she has with her wheelchair-bound sister is held under the watchful eye of agents from both the state’s Department of Children and Families and — since the story went national — armed state police! The family is only allowed one visit a week, for one hour a week, with their own sick daughter.
“It’s hard for me to say this,” Justina’s father Lou told me Wednesday, “but a terrorist is getting better treatment in Massachusetts right now than a sick teenager who’s done nothing wrong.” And that’s the source of rage among Justina’s supporters. She’s the one who’s suffering and all she did was come down with an illness.
Governor Deval Patrick had the executive power to pardon convicted criminals with the
stroke of a pen, yet ignores the plight of an innocent, sick adolescent in state care. It's a dereliction of duty that Governor Patrick has not taken action
to free Justina into the loving arms of her family," commented Rev. Patrick Mahoney a spokesperson for the Pelletier Family.
It is tragic that every young person in the Wayside Youth Facility was able to spend time with their family and celebrate Easter except one. That is
Justina Pelletier. It appears that DCF is punishing Justina and the Pelletier family rather than trying to reunite them, which is their stated purpose.
And all of you Americans think you live in a free country? Think again! How does this horrible Dr. Eli Newberger, have such enormous and unchecked power? This Juvenile Court Judge Joseph Johnson is even worse, he should be thrown off the bench. Is something involving illegal medical testing is going on at that hospital? Apparently, something illegal is going on?
Let them all lose their jobs and their reputations for this unbelievable disdain for justice. By the way folks, why isn't this news story on the main stream media (CBS, NBS, MSNBC, CNN, PBS, NPR, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times? What are they hiding?
A bill in the Massachusetts Legislature which would overrule the judge and free Justina immediately, HD 4212, written by MassResistance and filed on April 4, continues to be blocked by the Democratic leadership in the House, despite national outrage and a flood of calls and emails from across the country. I thought the Democratic Party was for the people? Apparently not!
Remember folks, never put your child in a Massachusetts hospital.
Now they are going to move her to a Connecticutt hospital instead of her parents arms.
Justice is coming Justina. Hang on.
This state, hospital, caretakers, judge, doctors should all be facing massive law suits for this
injustice for decades.
Glad to hear she'll escape from the shrinks.
ReplyDeleteShe should be sent HOME - not to another facility.
ReplyDeleteI know this is better than the hospital, but still - why wasn't she just sent HOME?
This says it all the owners of the facility Justina is going to used to work for Mass State Agencies ........ where is the kick back money

Hang on.
It began as a sick tug of war by the shrinks - and they misused guardianship to achieve control.
