NASGA Director Sylvia Rudek epitomizes the title, "Money Hero."
After the loss of her beloved Aunt, Helen Fabis (a victim of an emergency guardianship) Sylvia dedicated herself to this cause and she has never waivered. She has not seen a 40 hour workweek for years; she puts in far more hours every week -- all volunteer. And she has already been a hero to many of our members for a long, long time. She is completely dedicated to NASGA, our members, all victims of guardianship abuse and their families, and our cause.
While working on guardianship abuse on a national level, Sylvia also tackles guardianship abuse within her own state of Illinois She is working closely with her Representative, David Harris (R) (HB5573) and State Senator Steve Stadelman (D) (SB1051); and we are looking forward to more!
We are proud MONEY MAGAZINE recognized her extraordinary efforts and accomplishments.
NASGA wouldn't be "NASGA" without Sylvia Rudek.

ReplyDeleteAs a NASGA Illinois member from Cook County, I am personally impacted by the work NASGA is doing on the ground level here in Illinois. The probate cartel has our parents and we know we're next the baby boomers with the largest targeted population with the largest wealth puts us on the cartel's A hit list. I agree the best defensive position to fight off court ordered hell is preventive measures with the power of attorney documents signed and dated ready when needed as no one knows what tomorrow will bring or worse take away from us.
ReplyDeleteI have to say I am in awe that Money Magazine addressing this important issue with special praises knowing the Illinois hero Sylvia personally I think this is a good choice a good representation of what NASGA is about how the organization was born, why NASGA is still standing strong due to those who are in charge dedicate their lives to NASGA couldn't walk away from their experience they just couldn't go back to their former lives and live with themselves that they could have done more for society.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations Sylvia and NASGA. Many thanks to Money Magazine for taking an interest on Guardianship and Judicial Abuse. It is important that every U.S. citizen becomes aware of what awaits them in a probate court, while alive or deceased.
ReplyDeleteThese courts are being utilized to capitalize on the most vulnerable people of our society. Guardianship has become a mutlibillion dollar industry by taking the assets of an elderly person, or profiting off of the people with disabilities government benefits. Guardianship is no longer serving the vulnerable people who may need assistance due to incapacitation, it is serving the court appointed protectors above and beyond the actual individual guardinship was created to protect. Anyone can become a victim of this abuse today, especially if there is a profit to be made. In the interst of Money Magazine, perhaps they would consider writing a story about the amount of money judges pay out to court appointed attorney's in "acting in the best interest of a vulnerable person". The results would and should be the making of an investigative story on American Greed. That is what Guardianship has become in the United States of America. Sadly, the elderly & disabled are less protected under Guardianships. See www.guard

Also, a special thank you to Money Magazine for acknowledging Sylvia's hard work; also, thank you for recognizing that guardianship abuse is a real problem.
ReplyDeleteAs most guardianship abuse occurs within the court system, it involves judges, attorneys, and guardians alike. They systematically work together to deplete the elderly and disabled young people's estates.
Thank you again, Money Magazine, for your attention to this issue. It is exactly what is needed for it to be exposed.
