Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel on Tuesday announced an $18.5 million settlement of a lawsuit with Eli Lilly & Co. over off-label marketing of the anti-psychotic drug Zyprexa.Zyprexa was approved to treat schizophrenia and certain types off bipolar disorder in adults. McDaniel's lawsuit alleged that the company engaged in "illegal and fraudulent off-label marketing of Zyprexa," pushing its use to treat dementia, aggression, depression and sleep disorders among adults.
The suit also alleged the company promoted the drug for unapproved use in children.
"They didn't care what they were doing to taxpayers and to children," McDaniel said at a news conference at the state Capitol.
Eli Lilly admitted no wrongdoing in the settlement.

Not only did Eli Lilly not care what they were doing, there are more who don't care. My mother was put on Zyprexa under false pretenses by a guardian. It's happening all over the country, people who have been put in a position of trust, use this drug to silence or chemically restrain the elderly. This is a violation of there rights and nothing is done about it.

$18.5 mil was nothing to Lilly. They made much more than that and likely squirreled it away knowing one day they'd be fined.
Where the hell is our government and why aren't they doing something to stop the money mad people at Big Pharma?
And what hell good is the FDA, anyhow?
The fine wasn't large enough.

*Five at Five* was the Zyprexa sales rep slogan, meaning 5mg dispensed at 5pm would keep patients quiet. Google * Eli Lilly Zyprexa * and read the links.This is for a product that we put in our children's bodies.
I took Zyprexa it gave me diabetes and was as addictive as tobacco.How so? Because withdrawal is accompanied by severe insomnia for 6 weeks.
