Ohio AG Files Suit Against Nursing Home Provider

Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray filed a lawsuit against a large Ohio-based nursing home provider doing business under the name Carington Health Systems. The lawsuit alleges the company overstated nursing home expenses in reports filed with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS), resulting in overpayments of Medicaid reimbursements for 21 nursing facilities.

“By artificially inflating its expenses, this company caused the Ohio Medicaid Program to overpay for services,” said Attorney General Cordray. “It is critical that Medicaid dollars are spent as intended and that we hold accountable those providers who try to take advantage of the system.”

The lawsuit, filed in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, seeks monetary recovery for the overpayment of Medicaid reimbursement and damages.

The nursing facilities named in the complaint are:
Arlington Nursing Home, Newark
Batavia Nursing & Convalescent Center, Batavia

And yet we wonder why Medicare and Medicaid costs are off the charts!

Here we go.

They should be fined and fined a lot of money beyond wha they stole.

I dealt with Clermont and requested a copy of what had been billed on behalf of my loved one, it took over six weeks for me to get that copy, I reported to the Administrator various issues that were going on with staff and she said yes I know and we are working on it and yes the nurse is losing her husband to cancer, and yes she is sick, and then I sat in a Care Plan Meeting where the staff told me that my love one needed 24 hour 7 day a week care however, the doc would not sign that they were not able to care for themselves so that I could obtain guardianship and to put icing on the cake, they took a verbal POA from someone that was so medicated that they could not even stay awake. I watched residents get slamped around, not be clean, and beg to go to the bathroom, they were served poor meals such as cream of celery soup with nothing else and it was awful, I removed my love one and then, when I tried to put my loved one in a different Carington Facility not knowing they were connected, one administrator called the other and he was blackballed due to his family removing him from their Milford Facility, shame on you two administrators and Shame on Carington for having you in such power! I am sure the Attorney General's Office will allow you to know what you can and can not do with these poor people who still have rights whether you believe they do or not. Shame on all of you! I hope you stop to think about when you are in a nursing home and have to depend on someone to do the RIGHT THING BY YOU! I hope someone is more honest!
