Witherspoon Conservatorship Proceedings Being Held in Judge Randy Kennedy's Courtroom
Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon and her parents appeared in a Davidson County courtroom Friday for an emergency hearing on whether her father should be placed in a conservatorship.
But the outcome remains unknown. At the request of the family, Davidson County Seventh Circuit Court Judge Randy Kennedy, who handles conservator cases and rules on mental competency, closed the proceedings to the public and sealed the court record.
The hearing came the same week Betty Witherspoon filed a lawsuit saying that her husband, John D. Witherspoon, had married another woman even though they are still married.
In the lawsuit, Betty Witherspoon said her husband suffers from early-onset dementia and has problems with alcohol, hoarding and overspending. She is seeking to have that new marriage annulled.
Andra Hedrick, an attorney for the family, told the judge that the conservatorship case dealt with personal details about Betty Witherspoon’s marriage and finances.

Which of the Kennedy pals gets the big bucks here?
I hope Reese Witherspoon knows what she's getting into and also knows she's dealing with a judge who turns his head as conservatees are exploited by their conservators.
NO ONE --- NOTHING is safe or sacred in JRK's court room my advice: GET OUT OF DODGE while you can cause this is the best day of your life from here it goes down hill fast.
Psssssst go to probatesharks.com and read the editors note regarding this case.
Editor's note: Reese, this Shark believes that you should call Danny Tate and ask about Judge Kennedy...and don't leave your purse unattended in the courtroom. Lucius Verenus, Schoolmaster, ProbateSharks.com
My heart goes out to the Witherspoon family. They may wish to re-think their decision to seal the record, given the history of what occurs in Kennedy's courtroom.
Hundreds of thousand of dollars will be leaving the estate and going to the attorneys et al. I'd recommended shining a bright light on those proceedings for all the world to see.
We have similar issues in Cook County (Chicago). See www.probatesharks.com
The wife claims he has early onset dementia but there's no mention of guardianship.I guess it's all about the money.
I sure hope someone familiar with conservatorships AND familiar with Judge Kennedy's dealings of them contactds this family. See the writting on the wall...
It's too late. JRK will appoint a conservator to protect John Witherspoon. John can kiss everything he owns and his income bye bye. And, if John opposes being conserved they can lock him up never to be seen or heard from again. John is food for JRK's dogs.
All in secret well that's how most of JRK's cases go via emergency hearings with no notice of hearing big back of tricks watch your backs and your pockets.
