John E. Clemmons, 66, turned himself in on the charges Friday. Bail was set at $500,000, and a hearing on the charges, along with an anticipated plea deal, is expected as early as next week.
Using a cane and accompanied by one of his attorneys, Clemmons, who had been entrusted by the courts to manage the three conservatorships, walked slowly through the metal detector in the night court building a little after 1 p.m.and was taken into custody.
According to court filings Clemmons was charged with three counts theft of more than $60,000, one count of aggravated perjury and Tenncare fraud.
Court records and interviews show that more than $1 million in assets from the three wards is unaccounted for and much of it has been tracked back to Clemmons himself. In one case, a civil suit already has been filed seeking restitution of $450,000.
In that case, records show, Clemmons submitted periodic reports to the court on the handling of the ward’s estate that contradicted the actual bank and checking account records. Checks he reported making out to health care workers and other service providers, for example, ended up in his own bank account.

What other lawyers are operating for their own benefit in Judge Kennedy's court unchecked?
I wonder what else we'll find out about Clemmons -- drugs, gambling, alcohol? I think these factors often motivate greed.
There is no excuse but I can almost predict his defense from the mouth of his Attorney Paul Housch. Connect the dots and follow the $ it's as simple as that.
Clemmons has no defense - he deserves a life sentence in a state cage which is nothing compared to the grief and misery he caused and where was and where is the BOPR the TN Board of Professional Responsibility of the Supreme Court?
Where are the complaints? Dead forget about it no action taken file? The worn out shredder?
This sorry excuse for oversite this enabling gang of do nothing smokescreen enablers needs to be removed post haste they are USELESS and worse they collect complaints and bury them they MUST BE HELD RESPONSIBLE - if not now when?
Where is the TBI Tennessee Bureau of Investigation? Where are the feds?
Every case with Clemmons dirty fingerprints and tracks from day one must be seized and audited I guarantee you it will be well worth the efforts and manpower there is much more to be uncovered and discovered - if not now? when?
Jeanan Stuart is down and out hopefully with more coming John E. Clemmons is gone and where oh where was Judge Randy Kennedy? All he did and is doing is auto approve all billing while the ward and the family members are being tortured on a daily basis all with court approval all with approval from the BOPR.
The responsible judge the only judge in Davidson County probate division is Randy Kennedy any idea how much money passes through that courtroom?
One down, how many thousands of others to go..???
He deserves every bit of what he gets and more.

He looks like an undertaker. No offense to undertakers intended.
He's scary looking. I feel sorry for all of those forced into guardianship and then handed over to him.
