 TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa County deputies arrested a man and his partner accused of stealing nearly $150,000 from an elderly woman with dementia.

Investigators say the victim’s own son, Jeremy Woods, and his partner, Tiffany Thomas, were trusted with her finances but instead spent the money on shopping, entertainment and gambling.

Deputies say the victim lives in a retirement home. The investigation began after her check for care bounced, prompting a review of her bank account.

According to investigators, the victim’s bank flagged unusual activity and notified deputies and Adult Protective Services.

Deputies say bank records showed hundreds of dollars withdrawn almost daily through ATM and Venmo transactions. Investigators estimate the victim lost as much as $150,000.

“This entire situation is heartbreaking,” said Cpl. Richie Gonzales with the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office. “The bank statements show a clear pattern of waste and abuse.”

Woods and Thomas are both charged with exploitation of a vulnerable adult.

A judge ordered the two to have no contact with the victim and to stay out of casinos.

Woman accused of stealing $44,000 worth of jewelry from elderly woman

MOUNTAIN BROOK, Ala. (WBRC/Gray News) - A woman is accused of stealing more than $50,000 worth of sterling silver flatware and jewelry, including a wedding band from an elderly woman.

Jacqueline Gaydash is charged with financial exploitation of the elderly and theft.

According to court records, Gaydash “did knowingly and intentionally use deception to obtain or exert unauthorized control over” the victim’s property.

Gaydash is accused of stealing four gold bracelets, a diamond tennis bracelet and a sapphire and diamond ring with a wedding band valued at more than $44,040.

She’s also accused of taking $11,000 worth of sterling silver flatware.

Gaydash could face up to 20 years in prison.

Miami Beach law firm employee accused of stealing from elderly woman under guardianship

Police: Susan Rolle, 53, used ‘incapacitated’ woman’s credit card at McDonald’s, Victoria’s Secret, among other stores

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Police arrested a former employee of a Miami Beach law firm Wednesday after accusing her of stealing from an elderly woman under its guardianship.

According to a Miami Beach police report, the investigation into Susan Rolle, 53, began on Jan. 20 after another employee of Kahn & Kahn, based on Normandy Isle, told police that a review of the victim’s assets revealed unauthorized activity on her credit card.

A judge had named one of the firm’s attorneys the woman’s guardian after finding her to be “totally incapacitated,” the report states.

The employee told police that Rolle, of northwest Miami-Dade, was assigned to work with the attorney on her file, giving her access to the woman’s personal information and her credit card.

Police accuse Rolle of racking up nearly $600 in charges on the woman’s card in December and January, including visits to Publix, McDonald’s, Walmart, Family Dollar and Victoria’s Secret.

According to the report, officers presented a Dec. 22 surveillance photo of Rolle from the Publix at 6876 Collins Ave. to one of the firm’s attorneys.

Police said he immediately recognized her, pointing out she was wearing the same “festive” Christmas sweater in the photo that she wore during an office Christmas celebration.

The report states that detectives then subpoenaed the victim’s bank records and found that Rolle wrote herself a $5,290 check from the woman’s trust account, which she later deposited into her own account.

Police said Rolle wouldn’t speak to investigators without legal counsel prior to her arrest Wednesday.

Rolle, who was charged with grand theft, organized scheme to defraud, elderly exploitation, uttering forged instruments and credit card fraud, was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $16,000 bond as of Thursday afternoon.

Ritchie County woman accused of stealing over $16,000 in funds from an elderly woman

RITCHIE COUNTY, W.Va (WDTV) - A Ritchie County woman accused of stealing over $16,000 in funds from an elderly woman is now facing charges.

Sally Frederick, 29, of Harrisville has been charged with financial exploitation of an elderly person.

The sheriff’s office said in a post on Facebook that deputies obtained an arrest warrant for Frederick on July 21 after a complaint was made.

Over $16,000 in funds were stolen from the 78-year-old victim, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies arrested Frederick on July 24.

“The Ritchie County Sherriff’s Office would like to thank and acknowledge Chief R.T. Davis of the Pennsboro Police Department,” the sheriff’s office said in the post. “Chief Davis’s assistance in the serious exploitation case was essential in its success.”
