Two attorneys tasked with managing the FLDS child-custody case severed their ties with the state after being overruled in their efforts to terminate the parental rights of Warren Jeffs and other residents of the polygamous YFZ Ranch.
Charles G. Childress and Jeff Schmidt in separate interviews described frustration with the state's Child Protective Services agency that led both men to leave the case.
As the state's investigation continued, both men said they saw evidence to warrant filing motions seeking termination of parental rights on a number of cases - at least 10 and perhaps more, the attorneys said.
Instead, they said, they were overruled by leaders of the Department of Family and Protective Services, which runs the agency.

This is a hi-profile case and no lawyer wants to just leave. Therefore, there must have been much more frustration that they are telling -- plenty of justification for their actions.
This is a testimony that officials should pay close attention to.
If this is an indication of how state agencies really operate, after they find out from experienced professionals from the outside that their procedures are not working to protect those who need protection: God Help Us All!

It is disgusting that the state of Texas has allowed polygamy and incest to continue. Then when they finally do something, they screw it up. Then when they gather evidence, they drop the case. This shows the complete incompetency of unqualified state employees.
I think state agencies get too big too fast and they get more embroiled in their paperwork and procedure than the job itself.
Their action sets a positive precident!
I just don't trust CPS.
