Wendy Williams' family is turning to the public for help to free her from her "deeply isolating" conservatorship .

The former talk show host was placed into a court-ordered legal guardianship that oversees her finances and health back in May 2022. Despite claims from lawyer Sabrina Morrissey that the star is "incapacitated," her family believes otherwise.

Wendy's family, led by her niece Alex Finnie, has started a GoFundMe in the hopes of raising $50,000 to help with mounting legal fees and moving her out of the wellness facility she is currently living in , which she claims is like living "in prison."

Though the former radio host was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in 2023, she is adamant that a legal conservatorship is not necessary, especially with the support and care of her family.

In a recent appearance on Power 105's The Breakfast Club, the 60-year-old spoke directly about her situation, claiming: "I am not cognitively impaired. But I feel like I am in prison" and that she is barred from contacting her family. She also claims that she has experienced "emotional abuse" at the facility she currently resides in.

The description for the fundraiser reads: "For far too long, Wendy has faced the challenges of being unjustly placed under guardianship and labeled as incapacitated, despite her strong will and determination to live her life independently."

It continues: "The guardian assigned to her has severed her connections with friends and family, leaving her without the support network she so desperately needs. This isolation in New York has made it increasingly difficult for her to maintain her strength and resilience."

The description concludes: "Wendy's family is passionately advocating for her return to Florida, where she can once again be surrounded by the love and support of those who care about her. They are suffering emotionally as they witness the toll her isolation is taking on her well-being."

The former radio host's guardianship is similar to that of fellow stars Britney Spears and Amanda Bynes, who have both since been freed from the legal confines of their conservatorships. So far, the GoFundMe campaign has raised over $15,000.

Wendy Williams sobbed on the phone from the New York care facility where she is currently residing, detailing the duress she's been under since entering into a guardianship, in a new interview.

"I am not cognitively impaired, you know what I’m saying," she said in an interview on iHeartRadio's "The Breakfast Club" Thursday morning, where she was joined by her niece, Alex Finnie. In February 2024, Williams' team announced she'd been diagnosed with both progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD).

"I feel like I’m in prison," the 60-year-old admitted on the radio program.

"I’m in this place where the people are in their 90s and their 80s and their 70s," she continued. "There’s something wrong with these people here on this floor." 

She detailed the extreme supervision she was under, sharing that while she could make outgoing phone calls, people were not allowed to call her. 

"Where I am… you have to get keys to unlock the door to press the elevator to go downstairs, first of all. Second of all, these people here, everybody here is like nursemaids, so to speak," she said, explaining that staff just doles out medicine. Williams admitted she isn't privy to what she's taking. "Excuse me, doctor, can you tell me what this pill is for?"

"For the last three years, I have been caught up in the system," Williams added, saying that she'd spent her last three birthdays alone. "This is what is called emotional abuse."

The conversation took a turn when Williams expanded on restrictions, starting to sob at the thought of not being able to travel to Miami to celebrate her father's 94th birthday next month. "At 94, the day after that is not promised."

She said through tears, "My life is like f---ed up?"

In February, Williams' team publicly shared the depths of her health struggles.

"As Wendy's fans are aware, in the past she has been open with the public about her medical struggles with Graves' Disease and Lymphedema as well as other significant challenges related to her health," a public statement from her team read. Williams had taken several absences from her talk show, "The Wendy Williams Show," beginning in 2017 after fainting on air. During an episode in 2019, she revealed she was living in a sober house. 

"Over the past few years, questions have been raised at times about Wendy's ability to process information and many have speculated about Wendy's condition, particularly when she began to lose words, act erratically at times, and have difficulty understanding financial transactions," the statement continued.

"In 2023, after undergoing a battery of medical tests, Wendy was officially diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Aphasia, a condition affecting language and communication abilities, and frontotemporal dementia, a progressive disorder impacting behavior and cognitive functions, have already presented significant hurdles in Wendy's life."

Days later, Lifetime aired a documentary called "Where Is Wendy Williams?" which followed the talk-show host after her show had been canceled in pursuit of starting a podcast. In the documentary, she detailed her issues with substance abuse, condemned her guardianship and progressively became "more aggressive" in interactions with others.

In Thursday's interview, Williams confirmed that she had seen the documentary – something her guardian had suggested. Throughout the interview, she balked at the notion she was "cognitively impaired and incapacitated."

"How dare? Do I seem that way? God d--- it," she said.

A representative for Williams did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Wendy Williams called in to The Breakfast Club Thursday morning to speak out against her guardianship.

The former daytime talk show host, who has been under a guardianship since 2022 and was last year diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, said, “I feel like I’m in prison.”

“I am not cognitively impaired, you know what I’m saying? But I feel like I’m in prison,” she added. “I’m in this place where the people are in their 90s and their 80s and their 70s … There’s something wrong with these people here on this floor.”

Breakfast Club host Charlamagne Tha God said Williams was calling in because she was “trapped in a conservatorship” and couldn’t leave her current location.

Williams checked into an unknown facility in April 2023 after being placed under the care of court-appointed caregiver Sabrina Morrissey. Morrissey alleged in late 2022 in a New York court that Williams was of “unsound mind,” leading bank Wells Fargo to petition to have Williams placed under temporary financial guardianship.

Williams, who was the subject of the controversial Lifetime docuseries Where is Wendy Williams? last year, was joined on the show by her niece Alex Finnie, who also called in. Finnie said the facility is high security and, consistent with past reports about Williams being unreachable, added that Williams can only make calls, no one can call her.

“They won’t allow you to leave or have visitors,” she said. “So you can’t even leave and take a walk if you wanted to, or take a trip or visit family members.”

Finnie added, “That’s been the reality since 2023. She’s sitting in that room that she’s sitting in, she’s there every day, all hours of the day, every week, every month, she’s not getting proper sunlight. I went to New York in October to visit her. And the level of security and the level of questions that there were in terms of, ‘Who am I? Why am I here? What’s the purpose?’ I mean, it was absolutely just horrible.”

As for the documentary, Williams said she and Morrissey watched it together and that, “she was the one who wanted to do that.”

She continued, claiming that her situation amounts to “emotional abuse,” “What do I think about being abused? Look, this system is broken, this system that I’m in. This system has falsified a lot.”

Finnie continued to advocate for her aunt, saying she “sounds great.”

“I’ve seen her, in a very limited capacity, but I’ve seen her and we’re talking to her. This does not match an incapacitated person,” Finnie said. “And that’s why we say she’s in a luxury prison, because she is being held and she is being punished for whatever reason that other people are coming up with as to why she has to be kept in this position.”

Williams said her phone had been taken away and that she cannot make purchases and has to have someone get everything for her. She wants to visit her 94-year-old father for his birthday in February but is afraid her guardian won’t let her go.

“At 94, the day after that is not promised,” she said, as her voice grew increasingly emotional.

Finnie, who said the family is afraid Williams will be moved without notice or the ability to contact her, also indicated they were speaking out despite concerns of possible retaliation from Williams’ guardian.

“I said, ‘You know, we do this, you’re ready for what’s on the other side?’ And as she said, ‘I have to do this. There’s nothing else I could do at this point,'” Finnie said. “What you’re hearing now is a few-minute clip of what we’ve been dealing with for the last several months and the last two, three years.”

Morrissey sued to try to prevent the release of the docuseries but a judge dismissed the request, citing the First Amendment. The four-hour-plus project, which aired across two nights on Lifetime, showed Williams’ increasingly fragile state after the June 2022 cancellation of her talk show, documenting her life for the better part of a year as she struggled with family, fame and excessive alcohol consumption.

Filming stopped when she checked into an unknown facility, and Where Is Wendy Williams? producer Mark Ford told The Hollywood Reporter last year, “We were more worried about what would happen if we stopped filming than if we continued.”

At the time, shortly after the doc aired, producers indicated that she hadn’t seen it.

“We simply have had no way to get it to her to see it,” Ford told THR. No way to screen it with her, because she’s locked down in a facility and we haven’t been able to speak to her since we wrapped filming.”

But he added that he and his team had conversations with Williams behind-the-scenes as they were filming about what they wanted to show.

Williams was credited as an executive producer on the project as part of a three-picture deal with Lifetime.

After her initial attempts to block the release of the docuseries, Morrissey, acting in her capacity as Williams’ guardian, sued Lifetime’s parent company A+E Networks in March, saying the contract to shoot the documentary wasn’t valid since Williams didn’t have the legal or mental capacity to authorize her participation in the project and was allegedly told it would be “positive and beneficial” to her image.

In September, a newly revised complaint over the documentary asked that all profits from the project be used to fund Williams’ medical care.

New Details About Wendy Williams' Health Revealed

Charlamagne tha God shared a new update on Wendy Williams' health amid claims that she was "cognitively impaired, permanently disabled, and legally incapacitated.”

During an episode of "The Breakfast Club," Charlamagne tha God revealed that he had spoken with the former talk show host over the holidays.

Charlamagne suggested that Williams sounded like her old self, adding that she could be ready for a potential return to radio or television soon. His comments come after Williams was diagnosed with aphasia and dementia in May 2023, roughly one year after a legal guardian was put in place to oversee her health and finances.

In a court filing obtained by TMZ in November, Williams' guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, said the ex-tv host "has been afflicted by early-onset dementia and, as a result, has become cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated."

“No cap, I spoke to Wendy over the holidays. She was—seemed perfectly fine to me. Wendy sound like she can do radio tomorrow if she wanted to,” Charlamagne said on a recent episode of "The Breakfast Club." “She sound like Wendy Williams, she didn’t skip a beat. She answered the phone like ‘why you talking like we just spoke yesterday?’ She wanted me to be more excited. There ain’t nothing incapacitated about Wendy Williams.”

“I don’t know what ‘incapacitated’ means in regards to the dementia or whatever they said she was dealing with, but no—there ain’t nothing incapacitated about Wendy Williams," he added.

In December, Williams was spotted celebrating her son Kevin Hunter Jr.’s graduation from Florida International University. Video surfaced online of a heated exchange between Williams and her caretakers who allegedly left her mobility scooter in the middle of the street following a graduation dinner for her son.

In the years since Wendy left our TV screens, we’ve gotten a few updates in regards to her health, her court-ordered guardianship, and whether we will ever get a proper return from Williams. It’s a lot to keep up with, but we’ve got you covered. We’re breaking down the biggest questions surrounding the legendary media personality below.

1. What Exactly is Wendy’s Diagnosis?

There was always a big question mark regarding Wendy’s health and the severity of it, especially after she swiftly left her TV show in the middle of the season back in 2022. 2. When Was Williams First Spotted After the Diagnosis?

In August of 2024, Williams was spotted for the first time in over a year, brightening the days of all of her devoted fans. In a photo from August 19th, Williams is standing with her 24-year-old son Kevin Hunter Jr. at a holistic wellness store. Shared on the store’s Facebook page, the photo made waves online, with many feeling relief seeing the host out and about for the first time in what felt like ages.

3. What are Wendy’s Thoughts on the Diddy of it All?

 One of the many hot topics fans of Williams were clamoring for her take on, is the Diddy of it all. As we have significantly reported, Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing several civil sexual assault cases and is currently in custody awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges. In a rare occurrence since her step back from the public eye, Williams gave an interview to Daily Mail, breaking her silence on the Diddy news.

“What is really weird is that I have been told by so many people ‘Wendy you called it,’” she told the outlet. “Including some people from my family who have said the same.”

4. Wait, is Wendy is Permanently Incapacitated?

One of the saddest reports to come from Wendy’s team last year came around November, when her official court-appointed guardian Sabrina Morrissey shared that Williams had become “cognitively impaired, permanently disabled, and incapacitated” from her dementia. The story was particularly disheartening, especially as her medical team had told PEOPLE earlier that year that she was allegedly “still cognitive enough to do many things for herself.”

5. ...or is she?

In a shocking turn of events, the reports of Williams’ incapacitation and permanent disability got murkier in December when video footage of the host surfaced on the internet. In an Instagram video, Williams is seen in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., grabbing takeout from a Black-owned seafood restaurant. Williams is both seen and heard communicating with the workers from her car, all the while they’re chanting her iconic “How you doing?” phrase back to her.

She even is seen smiling and laughing with the workers from her car. This, of course, led to even more confusion from her fans, with one user writing on X, “I just saw Wendy Williams on video getting a seafood plate and talking. What exactly does incapacitated mean??????”

6. Did Kevin Hunter Enters the Chat, Again?

At the end of 2024, Kevin Hunter, Williams’ infamous ex-husband, made headlines after he filed a ‘Grievance Committee’ complaint against Williams’ legal guardian, Morrissey. As we reported, the concerning documents alleged that Morrissey “is not and has not been legally appointed as Guardian” of Williams. “Yet Ms. Morrissey has filed motions, cross motions, and responses to motions, as well as testified in court in a jurisdiction that she has no legal standing,” the documents read. “Ms. Morrissey is practicing law without a license in the State of New Jersey.”

For context, Hunter and Morrissey have been in a legal back-and-forth of sorts since 2020, when Hunter’s divorce from Williams was finalized. Still, this was yet another confusing layer to an already complicated and devastating situation.

7. Is Wendy Doing Better Than We Thought?

After almost a year of no sightings, Williams was spotted again, for the second time in a month, last December. As we reported, the scene this time was from her son’s graduation dinner, where Williams was seen acting very much like her old self. Yelling at her team after her mobility scooter was left unattended, she is seen saying, “Then both of you walked away leaving my s**t in the middle of the street like this. Just get the car please.”

While not the most pleasant video, it once again was confirmation for some of her fans that she may not be as “incapacitated” and “permanently disabled” as once reported.

Tommy Williams, brother of former talk show host Wendy Williams, revealed recently that he is raising awareness to move his sister to Florida and free her from her guardianship by selling "Free Wendy" merchandise.

Wendy has been under a court-ordered guardianship since May 2022 under the behest of Wells Fargo, which also froze her accounts and argued she was of "unsound mind." Wendy's guardian, Sabrina Morrisey, recently stated that her client is “cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated." However, her relatives and friends argue otherwise.

According to Tommy, Wendy wants to move to Florida, and he's optimistic that will happen. "That’s something that’s been in my heart and her heart," he told The U.S. Sun, according to The Jasmine Brand.

Tommy spent time with Wendy in Florida recently when she attended her son Kevin Hunter Jr.'s college graduation. He also told The U.S. Sun he is selling T-shirts and mugs in order to raise awareness and funds, presumably.

"She’s not free now, with her liberties, or with what she wants to do," Tommy told the outlet. "It’s a movement."

Wendy Williams' Conservatorship In Question Again After Viral Video

Former talk show host and iconic DJ Wendy Williams made headlines recently after a "rare public appearance" at her son Kevin Jr.'s graduation – due to her questionable conservatorship – and a new video of Wendy during that outing subsequently went viral, amplifying fan concerns.

The question of what exactly is up with Wendy has been percolating all year — back in February, Lifetime struggled to and ultimately aired a two-part documentary, entitled Where Is Wendy Williams?

It focused in large part on Wendy Williams' conservatorship, which, according to The Hollywood Reporter in May 2022, was triggered by her bank, Wells Fargo:

"The chain of events that culminated [in May 2022] with the installment of a financial guardian over Wendy Williams‘ finances started with a simple request from the TV personality to check her bank statements, according to her attorney, La’Shawn Thomas.

"Williams, suspecting misconduct by her financial advisor, wanted to switch banks and needed her most recent statements to do so.

"When Wells Fargo refused, it claimed in a petition for guardianship that Williams is an 'incapacitated person.' The bank argued that she’s the 'victim of undue influence and financial exploitation.'"

We didn't hear much about Wendy at all from mid-2022 until February of this year, when the Lifetime documentary raised questions about her health and conservatorship.

As we recently reported in the context of Kevin Jr.'s graduation in Miami, Wendy's family members have repeatedly contested her guardianship, and her sister Winnie said:

"We cannot reach out to [Wendy], but she can reach out to us. And she is in a healing place emotionally. She's not the person that you see in this film."

Sabrina Morrissey, Wendy's guardian, attempted to block the release of Where Is Wendy Williams?, though it ultimately aired, and she and Lifetime are still debating it legally.

Days before it premiered in February, Wendy's guardian issued a press release claiming that her ward had been "officially diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD)" in 2023, and the press release was attributed to "Wendy Williams."

In November, People indicated that Wendy's conservators had then-recently claimed she was "'cognitively impaired, permanently disabled, and legally incapacitated.'"

But on December 23, after Wendy appeared at Kevin Jr.'s graduation, Charlamagne Tha God shared an Instagram Reel depicting a very alert and engaged Wendy at a post-graduation celebration.

In the comments, Kevin Jr. pleaded for his mother's release from the conservatorship, which he said was harming her mental health:

"While I’m here quick update on my mom. She’s sober and wants to come home.

"We’re fighting to make that happen because Isolation is killing her faster than anything else."

Yet another video of Wendy began circulating on Christmas, and it too seemed to depict the Wendy we all know.

On Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25, the We In Miami podcast shared an Instagram Reel featuring Wendy.

Much like in the clip linked above, Wendy did not seem incapacitated or in any way diminished — the nature of a conservatorship like Wendy's is such that it is inherently not transparent, but Wendy seemed very much like herself:

A caption for the video tagged Kevin Jr., and it read: "Wendy Williams reveals dissatisfaction with her caretakers during her visit for her son Kevin’s graduation. The problem was over the coordination of Wendy’s departure from the graduation dinner. Kevin recently shared that his Mom wants to come home. 🙏🙏 Let’s discuss... @topfloor_kev."

The clip seems to start mid-argument, but a visibly annoyed Wendy, speaking about her mobility scooter, says to a caretaker:

"And then you — and then both of you walked away, leaving my s*** in the middle of the street like this.

"Just get the car, please. Make sure it’s the right car."

Someone off camera, a We In Miami host, asks Wendy what happened, and she very clearly explains that her caretakers "got the wrong car."

In doing so, Wendy says they also left her mobility scooter unattended in the street, and she continues:

Leaving my most precious — this cost a f******mint.

According to We In Miami, Wendy also didn't want to use the mobility scooter after leaving a restaurant and preferred to walk — but her caretakers insisted upon it, perhaps to make her appear frailer than she is.

Wendy also told We In Miami that the caretakers are paid by her, but she felt they were doing a poor job, and both she and her family were frustrated by the situation.

Several Instagram commenters largely remarked on how not-incapacitated Wendy appeared, and one said:

Wendy Williams ripped into her caretakers for leaving her stranded without her mobility scooter after her son's college graduation dinner last week. Per TMZ, the incident was caught on camera by the We In Miami Podcast crew.

In the footage uploaded on Wednesday, a visibly disgruntled Williams can be seen accusing her caretakers of leaving her scooter unattended on the street. The 60-year-old was attending her son's convocation, as Kevin Jr. received his diploma from Florida International University.

Wendy Williams, who was diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in 2023, has been declared legally incapacitated. Per the Ashmore Law Firm's official website,

"An incapacitated person means a person under the age of eighteen (18) years, or an adult individual who is unable to provide food, clothing, or shelter or unable to manage their financial affairs. An individual may be declared medically incapacitated, but that has no legal effect. Until there is a finding of legal incapacity, that individual maintains all of their civil rights and enjoys all of the same privileges of a fully capacitated individual."

In the snippet, Wendy Williams can be seen sitting in her scooter, surrounded by friends and family, as she yells at her team:

"And then both of you walked away leaving my s**t in the middle of the street like this. Just get the car please. Make sure it's the right car."

When the cameraman asked Williams "Wendy what happened? What they do?" she expressed her unhappiness with the crew for seemingly bringing around the wrong car to pick her up:

"They got the wrong car, so I knocked on the door and it was totally the wrong car. They left my scooter as they walked over there. Leaving my most precious, most - this cost a f***ing mint motherf*****. They just left my s**t out there."

A fuming Wendy then decided to take matters into her own hands as she walked out of the restaurant, without her mobility scooter. The footage then cuts to Williams yelling at her crew once again:

"Get the car over here, not over there, so I can go easily into the street to - for the car. They supposed to be ordering the car, that's what you're supposed to be doing. They wanna work for me, that's what they're doing. They're making money from me, get the Godd*** car.''

At the end of the video, the podcast host, Stunt Lifestyle, offers an insight into the situation. He revealed that it was her son who had taken the mobility scooter outside to allow his mom to walk on her own:

"So, I think, according to Wendy's family, she was really upset about the disorganization and the lack of care. She indicated the car was not close to assure she was like, even getting into the right car. It was just really messy, so she was really upset and her family was really upset, too."

Just this week, after Wendy Williams' guardian declared her "permanently incapacitated," 24-year-old Kevin Jr. took to social media to share a quick update on his mom:

"While I'm here quick update on my mom. She's sober and wants to come home. We're fighting to make that happen because Isolation is killing her faster than anything else."

Wendy Williams has had a tough couple of years. Just recently, she was listed as “permanently incapacitated” following her battle with dementia. However, while her guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, made these claims about her, Wendy’s friends and family feel she does not have the former talk show host’s best interests at heart. Shockingly, Kevin Hunter Jr. said his mom wanted to come home.

Here is what Wendy’s son had to say about his mom and her current condition.

Wendy Williams’ Son Wants His Mom Back Home

Kevin Hunter Jr., Wendy Williams’s son, said his mom is ready to return home. This is despite the recent proclamations of her guardian that the beloved celebrity is “permanently incapacitated.” According to Kevin, “She’s sober and wants to come home” (via TMZ).

Sabrina Morrissey filed court documents that said Wendy is “cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated.” Kevin disagrees and says the family is fighting to bring her home. He then admitted that “Isolation is killing her faster than anything else.” Many family members say that Sabrina has blocked them from seeing Williams.

Wendy was seen out earlier this year when she posed with a fan for a photo on a trip to a store. This was when she traveled to Miami to see Kevin graduate from Florida International University. Kevin even posted a video of Wendy getting her nails done and buying a new wig for the event.

Kevin saying that Wendy is sober comes after she battled with alcohol addiction. The A+E documentary about Wendy documented some of those struggles. Wendy was also diagnosed with aphasia and dementia in May 2023, and Sabrina was named the guardian for her health and finances. Since then, Wendy’s money has reportedly disappeared under Sabrina’s watch.

Wendy Williams Guardian Battling A&E Over Documentary

A+E Networks is making some major claims against Sabrina Morrissey. They have said that she is trying to cover up for her failure to protect Wendy as her guardian and that she wants to take away Wendy’s last chance to speak to her fans (via TMZ).

Sabrina tried to shut down the documentary last year, and A+E has responded to that lawsuit. They said Sabrina tried to sue to get parts of the documentary changed. However, they said that Wendy signed the agreement before Sabrina had her listed as mentally incapacitated. They also said there is no law against making a documentary about dementia.

A+E has now sued Sabrina for infringing on their First Amendment rights. They say that the guardian forced them to defend themselves against making a documentary, which is against their Constitutional rights.

Wendy Williams got emotional as she attended her son’s college graduation on Thursday in a rare outing as she battles early-onset dementia.

Wearing a sparkly dress and Chanel shoes, the former daytime TV host, 60, accessorized with a Louis Vuitton bag as she rode a red electric wheelchair in and out of the commencement event.

Williams was joined by her father, Thomas Williams Sr., 93, and her sister, Wanda Finnie, to witness Williams’ only child, Kevin Hunter Jr., 24, get his diploma from Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, Fla.

According to FIU’s commencement program, Kevin graduated from the university’s Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.

He began his college journey at another Miami school, Barry University, before transferring to FIU. Kevin also took time off from school in 2021 and 2022 to help take care of his mother as she struggled with her health. 

During the graduation ceremony, a beaming Williams cried and wiped away tears as Kevin walked across the stage and received his diploma.

The former “Wendy Williams Show” host was flanked by armed police officers as she exited the commencement and got in to a waiting vehicle. Kevin was seen shaking hands with one of the officers. 

Wendy was seen most recently over the weekend in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. smiling in the back of an SUV as she picked up a to-go order from local haunt Sho’nuff Oysters.

The star was accompanied by her nephew Travis Finnie, according to blogger Antoine Edwards, who captured video of the oyster pickup.

A little over a month ago, Williams’ legal guardian Sabrina Morrissey declared that the TV personality “has become cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated” as a result of her early-onset dementia.

The claim was recorded in a Nov. 12 court filing Morrissey submitted in her ongoing legal battle with A+E Networks, the cable network she alleges exploited Williams in the Lifetime docuseries “Where Is Wendy Williams?” (Lifetime is a subsidiary of A+E).

Morrissey unsuccessfully attempted to block the release of the doc, which aired in February and revealed intimate details of Williams’ struggles with addiction and her finances.

The former radio DJ was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia in 2023 after the docuseries wrapped, though she reportedly showed symptoms indicative of the condition — which includes memory loss — from the beginning of production.

Williams has been under a court-ordered guardianship that oversees her health and finances since 2022 after her bank, Wells Fargo, alleged she was “incapacitated.”

Wendy Williams' Son Kevin Hunter Jr. May Have a Chance to Be Her Legal Guardian

The former TV host's ex-husband Kevin Hunter allegedly asks a New Jersey divorce court to remove her current guardian Sabrina Morrissey from their divorce hearings.

AceShowbiz - Wendy Williams' son Kevin Hunter Jr. may become her legal guardian. According to a new report, Wendy's ex-husband Kevin Hunter asked a New Jersey divorce court to remove her current guardian Sabrina Morrissey from their divorce hearings.

According to Kevin Sr., Sabrina is not legally allowed to represent the star in the Garden State. He alleged that Sabrina, who was appointed by a New York court to be Wendy's guardian, "committed fraud upon the court by falsely representing she is permitted to appear on [Wendy's] behalf" in their New Jersey divorce case.

He additionally claimed that Sabrina "intentionally and willfully misled this court by asserting on multiple occasions that she is permitted to represent Ms. Wendy Williams Hunter as her legal guardian."

Amid the legal battle, a source revealed to The U.S. Sun that Wendy's son Kevin Jr. might be able to step in and take over his ailing mom's care. "There is now a huge opportunity for Kevin Jr. and the family to make a step forward in Wendy's guardianship," the informant noted.  

Kevin Sr. added in his filing that a guardian needs to file a petition for guardianship in another state and that "notice of a petition under this section shall be given, in the same manner as notice is required to be given in this State, to those persons that would be entitled to notice if the petition were for the appointment of a guardian or issuance of a protective order in both the transferring state and this state."

He continued, "On the court's own motion or upon request of the guardian or of the conservator or conservatee, or other person required to be notified of the proceeding, the court shall hold a hearing on a petition filed pursuant to this section."

"[Kevin Sr.] wishes to object to any appointment of Ms. Morrissey to be appointed guardian based on her continuing fraud on the court. She has already rendered herself ineligible for any appointment as Guardian in the State of New Jersey because of (1) her failure to disclose to this court that she is not and has not been appointed as the legal Guardian of Wendy Williams Hunter in the State of New Jersey," Kevin further wrote in his filing.

Sabrina was given 21 days to prove she was authorized to represent the former talk show host in New Jersey. When the period was over, Sabrina sent papers via overnight delivery "to register the guardianship in New Jersey."
