AHWATUKEE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5)
-- A caretaker at an Ahwatukee adult care facility has been arrested after being accused of abusing a paralyzed patient on Monday.

According to court documents, 69-year-old Rodolfo Agpoon was helping four Phoenix Fire Department personnel get a man ready to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance for a medical issue. While getting the man ready, Agpoon reportedly reached beneath the man's underwear in front of the emergency responders.

The victim was a resident of the group home for people who suffer from traumatic brain injuries. As a result of the victim's injury, he is nonverbal and paralyzed on his left side. Agpoon was then taken into custody.

When speaking with detectives, Agpoon admitted to what happened, telling detectives he did it to get the man to talk and that doing what he did was the only way to get the victim to speak. Agpoon faces recommended charges of vulnerable adult abuse.
