Schiavo Family Supports Sara Harvey

The family of Terry Schiavo, the comatose Florida woman whose case drew national attention, is intervening on behalf of a Chemung County resident whose husband is in a similar state.

Sara Harvey of Horseheads has been battling with Chemung County over guardianship of her husband, Gary, who suffered a severe brain injury in a 2006 fall.

Schiavo was at the center of a legal battle between her husband, Michael, who said he wanted her to die with dignity, and her parents, Robert and Mary Schindler, who wanted her to be kept alive.

Schiavo died in March 2005 after she was disconnected from life support.

Monday, Mary Schindler and Schiavo's brother Bobby Schindler visited Gary Harvey at St. Joseph's Hospital and said they would offer Sara any support they could.

"We're looking out for the best interest of Sara. She wants to bring her husband home," Bobby Schindler said.

"She wants guardianship of her husband, and it doesn't make sense to us or her why she's being denied that right, and why they've taken away her visitation rights and won't allow her to visit her husband.

"It's horrible how they're treating this woman when she simply wants to care for her husband," he said.

Thank you, Schindlers, for your support of Sara Harvey and her husband.

The Schiavo case was about money -
money that her husband wanted!
Her family wanted life. Money won, and with it came death.

The Harvey story is about money -
money that the County wants - and they're fighting for death while Mrs. Harvey is fighting for life.

There are negative reports on the two facilities where he is treated.
What are they hiding in their medical records?

All Mrs. Harvey wants is to get her husband home so he can be properly cared for - safely.

It says a lot that the Schiavo family has come to stand with Sara Harvey!

I hate the phrase "die with dignity"

Starving and dehydrating to death is not a dignified death. It's torture.

A feeding tube is not "life support." It's an aide to help someone obtain nutrition.

We don't eat directly from the plate; we use utensils. Forks, spoons, glasses, straws --- feeding tubes.

Hooray for Sara Harvey to receive this support!

Bobby is right...let Sara bring her husband home and care for him.

Does anybody think that's not what HE wants? Nobody wants to live in a nursing home or a hospital. Everyone wants to go home!

Many thanks to Mary and Bobby Schindler for their efforts to support Sara Harvey's efforts to be with her husband Gary, to protect him from harm.

I very much remember the shocking case of Terry Schiavo and her family's relentless efforts to protect her from harm.

Without the role of the media and the press, no one would be shining a bright light on the governments intrusive actions into family matters into the dark side of guardianship.

The Harvey's have been through enough sadness and grief, they are man and wife, til death do they part where does it say until a guardian comes between them?

Do we need to re-write the marriage vows to include guardianship?

Enough already: Bring Gary Home!

The Schiavo family certainly knows how it feels to suffer the greatest injustice of all. Thank God for their support of Gary Harvey.

Wow, what a committment the Schiavos have to this cause. Their intervention on Sara Harvey's behalf speaks volumes.

Let Gary Harvey go home to his wife, Chemung County.

You're so right, Sue. The Harveys are married, or are they? Hasn't the County in fact divorced them?

Not letting Mrs. Harvey see her husband is outrageous. How can they justify their cruelty to their own conscience?

hey wake up america this could happen to you forced separation of husband and wife or worse? there is a new hot case in IL about a family court judge who ordered dad not to expose his children to christmas or any christian celebrations including christmas trees because they will be harmed now dad has to appeal the judge's decision? more lawyer fees court hearings while this insane judge does not get yanked off the bench when is enough enough?

It's simple said...

Why isn't the County offering to do the supervision so their ward can see his wife?

Chemung County should act like the guardian and do whatever's needed for their ward.

This "supervision" thing is ridiculous. The County tried to kill Gary Harvey. In reality, they should be the ones guarded.

This is just plain nuts. What's wrong with people? Let Gary Harvey go home for God's sake.

It's all about power and control folks.

These nutcases are in powerful positions, they are smart; we are stupid; they are addicted to getting their way all the time, right or wrong they will not back down they are in for the durationthey are dug in because they can and you can bet they have it in for Sara and her supporters big time for those who are putting heat on these sadistical people who look in the mirror every morning and smile.
