Locked Away in a Facility, Isolated

Robert is a strapping young man, 6'5" tall, dark, and handsome. But Robert was alone in Missouri - and being bi-polar- soon found himself a victim of the system. We were not told of the original guardianship hearing. Now I am trying to free my brother from the Missouri system of guardianship by a public administrator and the nursing home they have imprisoned him in. The guardian would not allow my brother to have contact with his family or friends.

For seven long years, no one was allowed to know were Robert was or how his health was. This grieved our mother for five years to the point of a complete break-down. Our mother went into a Mississippi hospital with a mental break-down, and they killed her. Because the guardian wanted half our mother's money, we finally got to know where in Missouri my brother Robert is located.

However, I am not being allowed to visit Robert or help him in any way. The guardian has imprisoned him in a nursing home since he was around 40 years old. Shortly after he graduated the Missouri University in Columbia with a Master's Degree in Business, Robert began an internship at NAMI-National Alliance on Mental Illness. Then Robert just disappeared from his apartment and job.

Robert has been locked away in a facility where the care is inadequate and abusive. Robert is now going to be 47 years old. I know that his mental and physical health have been compromised by both the guardian and the nursing home. It has been nearly three years since I found my brother. Alarmingly, the corruption in Missouri is so overwhelming prevalent, I have not been able to help my brother. And to prevent me from even giving Robert hope, he is denied visitors, mail, and phone calls are restricted both incoming and out going.

Robert is a kind and gentle man and is very concerned with others and their happiness. Robert has something he can offer to society and humanity; we all lose because he is hidden away left to stagnate and rot.

Family should always be allowed to know where family is.

A nursing home is no place for someone that has psychiatric needs. What is his guardian thinking? Sounds like the guardian does not want to be bothered making sure he has quality of life.

What a horrible shame! This is so sad I could cry. Yet we can all relate to this imprisonment of our loved ones.

It seems that there is nothing we can do to change it, except tell our story. I can only believe that one day JUSTICE will be served - and these criminals will burn in hell.

Isolation is torture. Any guardian who isolates should be immediately removed and fined.

I will pray for Robert and his family.

You're right, Anon 2, a nursing home is no place for someone with pychiatric needs. And it could also be dangerous for the other patients.

The guardian involved here is a disgrace.

Robert is lucky to have a brother advocating for him.

Keep up your strength and don't lose your faith!

Guardians are to be least restrictive for best quality of life. No one gets better in a nursing home; like penning up a cafe for veal this is ware-housing a human for cash.

It's inhumane and should be seen as a crime against humanity.

It's time to blow open the gates of Hell. This is business as usual for the probate courts, but this is not life and liberty. I'm outraged. Thank you for this story. It gives strength to my fight for the greater good. These perps have no conscience and will have to be shown what humanity is about. Keep fighting the good fight, my friend.

Isn't it sickening... A man with bi-polar, a Master's Degree in Business, began an internship at NAMI-National Alliance on Mental Illness, wanting to reach out and help others and then he is stolen into the guardianship system. Isn't it sickening... many people with bi-polar where I live self medicate with drugs and alcohol, the doctors perscribe meds and the system gives them a disability check monthly. They wonder around drunk and drugged most days living on the tax payers.
Not to hard to see where the real interest lies in Roberts case. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Bi-polar is a treatable condition. This man should be out in the world, enjoying his life and his family. What a sick system it is - thank goodness for NASGA.

Nice to hear from you Danny,

Glad to hear your comment. Many of us are trying to blow the gates off the corruption the problem we are not standing as one unified effort. A case at a time does not work uniting together and everyone reporting their stories to the same FBI agents would help so that they can not push the investigations in the trash can or in a storage box on some dusty shelf somewhere. We are all told you are the only one.

We all need to call this gentleman at the FBI
I have his name Mr. Ed Kahrer - call the main number which is 973-792-3000 and ask for him.
Tell him your family is another victim of guardianship abuse. Tell him a group of us would like to speak to him and his agents ---- yes I have two agents for you to email a letter to:

ryan.messer@ic.fbi.gov agent number 1
joseph.bonavolonta@ic.fbi.gov agent number 2

I have been emailing for months. Ed Kahrer's is their supervisor Tell Mr. Ed Kahrer you have spoken to me, Mary Ellen Taylor the more people that call him the better. If you do not get through the first time call back. If he tells you, you need to call in your state tell him you would rather file with our group because people are ignoring these crimes.
Numbers are our best chance of getting results.

We need to file as a group. FBI is federal so the report should be able to be taken in one location for all Guardianship victims and their families.

His agents say these are Civil Issues they are not ----- remember the judges and such ....good luck going back into the same court system.

These are crimes of hatred and bigotry against the ill, disabled and elderly.

The Federal Government with the FBI should be filing Color of Law Lawsuits in Federal Court for all the victims. When that starts to happen the abuse will start to be taken seriously.

I also suggest: Anyone in the Illinois area with guardianship abuse cases send your complaints in timeline form with numbered exhibits in a binder to the US Attorney and the FBI Office in the jurisdiction of the case file.

I suggest all IL complainants send a cc to Northern IL US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald's Chicago Office.

If each complainant notified and informed the federal authorities within their jurisdictions, the feds would see the patterns emerging and growing all for profit under color of law and most hearings are held without due process.

The amount of profit is staggering and all inventories and accountings are on "the honor system" no audits, no reviews all on the 'word' of the guardians, the conservators = recipe for embezzlement.... a recipe for DISASTER.

This gang of thieves has their eyes on ME - on You!

This story is very, very familiar. Most guardianship horror stories are similar to this story.

want the name of this guardian and the judge who is fueling this. I want their names.....Please!!! I want to pass a law for the permanent annihilation of Judicial Tyrants. Think about this, the government is separating our families and telling us NOT to take care of our family members who are in need of care! Leaving them afraid and alone, living in fear. What criminal corrupt thugs. Nobody rises to their level of evilness. Please post their names.
