What Adele Fraulen might have thought to be nothing more than a meaningless bad dream one night in 1935 would actually come true. At age 79 she would find herself living a nightmare -- a struggle for her life, simply because she innocently trusted the wrong professionals to help with her portion of a Million Dollar inheritance; they would steal her very existence. Her neighbors, Chris and Patricia Zurillo, would realize that Adele's life was going terribly wrong and dedicate themselves to freeing her from captivity. “Marked For Destruction” is a rare book that exposes an ever-expanding crime against our elderly.

I hear more and more people referring to Marked for Destruction because it gives such good tips for how to approach contesting a bad guardianship.
I think the Adele Chris Act is a great idea and a wonderful tribute to Adele Fletcher!
It's an honor and privilege to know John Caravella. Great job, John!
Everyone should take the opportunity to read Marked for Destruction and it is so nice that it's also offered on line free.
Let's support The Adele Chris Act!
Adele would be so very proud, I am sure. And so would Chris.
Thank you for your effort on behalf of Adele and Chris and all victims suffering from unlawful and abusive guardianships/conservatorships, John!
Let "The Adele Chris Act" lead the way to reform!
i think this book should be part of primary school mandatory reading to get the kids while they still have a heart, soul and conscience i have this masterpiece proudly displayed in my home i'm very impressed with the model law it must have taken a lot of hard work sacrifice and effort to accomplish this monumental task all of this shows the years of dedication by john the washington dc crowd needs to hear from this very special person who will tell it like it is now the question is do those who have the power to make changes want to hear from john and his supporters do they want to hear and know ~~~ the truth?
Wonderful!
If only the world had more John Caravella's what a wonderful world this would be...........
Thank you John for being a strong voice for vulnerable!
"Marked for Destruction" was the first book I read on this subject, great insight into the debth of this crime.
It is an honor to know that you are keeping a watchful eye on the guardianship corruption and the exploitation in the state of Florida.
Thank you also, for your efforts heading up Florida's Seniors vs. Crime Project.
Lawyers have been writing guardianship law for years, which is how the laws have gradually morphed into a sort of welfare system for lawyers. It's time to fix that. Thank you for the model law, Mr. Caravella. Now let's get busy and get it done!
Thank you all for your comments and support for the Model Law. NASGA is a very hard working organization that deserves much credit for bringing guardianship problems into the national spotlight for meaningful discussion and resolution. To that end, please use the link supplied to contact the Subcommittee with your encouragement so that this discussion can continue.
Good point Misty. Think about who funds the campaign war chests of those running for office particularly those who write the laws. This is bribery, get your buddy elected and he owes you big time and big time = $$$$ and the way to direct $$$ to campaign contributors is to write laws that benefit them.
And, we the chump taxpayers are paying their salaries, benefits etc while we are lead to slaughter under color of law.
This must STOP now!
I had several friends read this book at the hospital my husband resides. Lifted a few eye brows.
I hope reform comes soon before the death of our loved ones.
Justice is a long slow process..but if they want payment they surely do not waste any time spin the wheels for that.
I have now read the first half of the Adele Chris Act and expect soon to read the rest. I especially like lines 100 – 196, which review the unresolved issues, goals, existing federal code and purpose of that code.
On the other hand, I am not satisfied with some of the lines which follow. For example, I don’t yet see in the proposed Act any requirement of a threshold which the petitioner must establish before requiring anything of the respondent. Such a threshold is needed to prevent us from being compelled to submit to malicious or other unwarranted petitions and evaluations. By ignoring the need for such a threshold, the proposed Act circumvents the need to define objective criteria that cannot be abused by legal and other professionals …
Dear TVFields:
Without getting into a lengthy discussion, my hope is that as you read further you will find increased and substantial "thresholds" in procedures, required proof and penalties. These higher thresholds range from requiring documented proof, trial by jury, trial proof "beyond a reasonable doubt", loss of rights only by jury decision, and penalties that can completely terminate a guardianship.
My hope is that Congress will exercise its ability to trump the states' failed attempts to regulate this out of control industry with a uniform and firm set or regulations that will benefit everyone equally.
There is no Act labed the "Adele Chris Act" and there is no legislation written by any legislator. This "model draft" does not address financial exploitation of illegal guardianships.
