Gary Harvey Series: In Darkness & Isolation

Gary Harvey of “warehoused scenario central”, New York, is living in an inexcusable isolation! What visits this man is allowed are limited, restricted and supervised. Permission must be obtained to even touch him. A kiss on the cheek must also be approved by the authority now deemed in control of his very existence. An authority that seems to enjoy toying with the lives and emotions of those they can control and the friends and loved ones that have dared to challenge or question their decisions, behaviors and directives.

Chemung County, New York, supposedly cares for its wards, even the ones they claim not to want, but then fight desperately to keep. Their decisions are always in the best interest of those wards, right? (That’s what they say anyway.) This then makes one wonder why they would hesitate to make sure the eye care that Gary Harvey gets is top-notch (they certainly aren’t paying for it) and to stay on top of what might be an eye problem in the making or a condition getting worse.

Gary Harvey suffers from a traumatic brain injury. That’s true. However, no one knows how far he could come along, if he were to receive therapy and stimulation, such as having frequent visitors who are allowed to touch him and give him a kiss on the cheek, just because giving him a kiss on the cheek might be a gesture of affection he is needing. No one knows and it seems like those in control — simply don’t care.

What is their problem, these County people?

There can't be anything crueler than this. My God....

I wonder if the judge has seen the letter from Gary's guardian. Surely if he saw that, he'd do something for Gary Harvey?

Bobby Schindler would take care of business. Loss of vision is cruel with no excuses for lack of proper care. Heartbreaking and criminal in my opinion. KARMA to those who are perceived to be taking care of Gary in the best interests of the ward, Viet Nam Veteran. Prayers for Gary, Sara and Bobby.

I saw this story on Facebook and I have shared it. The word is getting out.

I just don't get it. Don't these people have any heart or empathy? How can they do this to a helpless man who can't speak? It sickens me.

Bobby Schindler is Gary Harvey's only hope. I pray God will facilitate Schindler replacing Gary's guardian. I can't stand what the Harvey family has been through.

This is so wrong. My husband had a traumatic head injury. He was in a coma, He awoke and could not speak or walk. With Rehab an my constant reading and showing him pics and talking and other stimulation he made a full recovery with some short term memory problems. He was 47 at the time the doctors said he would be in a vegatative state the rest of his life and wanted me to take him off life support. I refused. He is now 66 yrs old and can take care of himself. It took him 9 mths to speak with a stutter and 3 months to learn to walk. In 2 yrs he was doing all the things he ever did. No one can predict what Gods plans are for someone. The human body and mind are amazing. These people should be locked up away from society. They are cruel, heartless, and have become someones Judge and Jury sentencing the disabled and elderly to a life of hell.

I can't imagine how strong Gary Harvey has to be to withstand the isolation. I can't think of anything crueler than this to do to a human being. May they all rot in....

What is wrong with these people? I'm just not understanding how they can treat Mr. Harvey like he's a sack of potatoes while they go on with their lives and their families as if he didn't matter. It's so heartless and crazy.

I believe Chemung County looks in the mirror and sees exactly who they are. They may put on the act during the day, but when they look in the mirror, I am sure they see their faces as God sees them. One day they will have to attone for what they did to Gary and Sara Harvey.
