A local judge has approved a $100,000 donation to Mission San Miguel from billionaire heiress Phoebe Hearst Cooke.
Conservatorship attorneys had no objection to the gift because it was consistent with Cooke’s longstanding giving to the mission.
Cooke has given as much as $1.3 million to the mission over the past five years to help it keep running after the devastation of 2003 San Simeon Earthquake, said the Rev. Ray Tintle, pastor of the San Miguel parish. The earthquake caused large cracks in the church’s sanctuary, and its rebuilding continues today.
"We could not have reopened without her help."

I actually think this stinks.
Cooke is a guardianship ward - she does not have the right to make such a donation, despite any prior history of such.
So, when they say "Cooke donates", nope, Cooke doesn't.
I think they're just spending her money now that they've got control.
I hope the media releases all donations made in the name of Phoebe Hearst Cooke, a ward of the state.
It will be interesting to see how the court rules or will the file be sealed/closed.
I also wonder if the bevy of "conservatorship attorneys" and the judge will be getting a kickback in some manner (including campaign funds) from those receiving gifts?
How many conservatorship attorneys are involved in this guardianship?
How much are they charging for their services?
Now, this is an accounting I want to see but have a feeling will never be released.
How long will it take to empty the coffers and put the woman on Medicaid?
This makes the bad guys look like the good guys to the average person who doesn't understand the racket.
