Judge Sets Bail in Alleged Death of Incapacitated Adult by Caregiver

Judge Thomas Keadle arraigned a Lewis County woman accused of one count of death of an incapacitated adult by a caregiver.

Judge Keadle set Burkhart's bail for $25,000.

Lewis County Prosecuting Attorney Gary Morris asked for a $50,000 bail but Burkhart's attorney disputed it because she has a child in middle school and said she couldn't afford $50,0000.

Angela Burkhart is the mother of Cory Burkhart, 19, who had Down syndrome and was killed a year ago.

I don't believe she should have had a bail opportunity. This is not only about murder, but murder of a vulnerable person.

Perhaps you all should know that she was also indicted on 36 felony counts of fraudulent use of an access device, 3 misdemeanor counts of False Swearing (she lied to get free attorney's), and 4 felony counts of Welfare Fraud. To make matters more interesting the judge allowed her to go on vacation for the months of June and July to Branson, MO. Check out the article - http://www.westondemocrat.com (only for week of 7/11/12 -7/17/12.)

she is also facing 36 felony counts unauthorized use of an access device, 3 misd. counts false swearing (lied about her income to get free attorney's), and 4 felony counts welfare fraud. Judge allowed her to leave state for June and July to go on vacation in Branson, MO. but has been suspended indefinitely without pay due to these charges since March 8, 2012 - hmmm where is all the money coming from?
