The Eli Schutts Case: Companion's Attorney Fires Back With Motion Prompting New Probate Hearing

TORRINGTON—Based on a motion citing false accusations of money being improperly withdrawn from a bank, and asking that two people be allowed to define their own relationship, another probate court hearing is scheduled next week in the case of Litchfield Woods Health Care Center resident Eli Schutts, 86.

This hearing, the nursing home client’s second in two months, will address petitioning attorney Matt LeFevre’s request to remove visitation restrictions imposed on Dr. Schutts’ longtime companion, Edith Johnson, 79, of Bethlehem.

The Litchfield County Times began tracking the case of Dr. Schutts, a former professor of philosophy at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, after Ms. Johnson raised concerns about his care, and about how she was being treated by those she encountered through the probate system. Maligning, brainwashing and isolation are the weapons of choice of the "protectors"!

Isolation of an elder or anyone who is compromised leads to depression with failing health, loss of will to live. This is well known, widely accepted action and re-action, a no-brainer used by individuals whose intent is to harm the person being isolated.

In addition in abusive situations, isolation is used to hide wrongdoing.

Think this can't happen to you? Or someone you care about and love?

We're all at risk when another person has absolute power of the ward who is stripped of all their rights, an innocent person who did not commit any crimes yet they have less protections and less rights than a serial murderer who is incarcerated, on death row.

I believe Mr. Schutts has been manipulated to believe his companion is bad when in fact she is his only true advocate.
