Justina's mother, Linda Pelletier, who has been staying in a hotel near the JRI Susan Wayne Center for Excellence in Thompson where their daughter is being held, got a call from the facility's director around 3:45 p.m., Lou Pelletier said.
The director told her that the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families had received word that custody of Justina would return to her family, he said.
Pelletier said Justina called him from his wife's cellphone and was "screaming" with happiness.
"Right now it's 'Get her home, get the healing going,' then we'll deal with the people who put Justina in this horrific physical condition," Pelletier said.

This case brought so much attention to the new problem of medical hostage taking, that perhaps it won't grow any bigger!
Behind every outrage of this kind, there is a lawyer who needs to be disbarred.
It is a common misconception of social workers that they can somehow avoid liability for their misdeeds by hushing up the victim, citing "confidentiality."
An equally common misconception is that if a judge rubber stamps it, the social services department somehow has immunity from suit.
The judge has immunity, not the social workers who stretched the law and the truth and misinformed the judge.
An ethical lawyer would have disabused these social workers of those misguided notions at the outset, and allowed a full and fair hearing with all of the facts so that the judge could decide this dispute according to the law and the evidence.
Lawyers and guardians ad litem who take shortcuts and stomp on the rights of incapacitated people and their families are playing a very dangerous game, dangerous to their own fate as well as the fate of others.
The future will come, counselors.

What we need are advocates and lawyers who will take this case on. Sure there are lawyers willing to represent the innocent victim and their family but at what financial cost?
NASGA has membership who can testify to the lawyer billing games broken promises, court filings stamped filed with the court but guess what? The document is not recorded on the court docket - oh the bag of tricks to keep billing billing billing while their client is at square ONE !!!
We are shouting out loud that alone takes away the secrets how this twisted system really works it works in the best financial interests of the lawyers, win, lose or withdraw leaving their client hanging with damaged reputation labeled as 'difficult' while the wrongly labeled 'difficult' plaintiff tries to retain another lawyer at substantial costs and more lost time.
In this case I hope the Pelletier family is successful in retaining legal representation via pro bono at no cost to them. This is the only way to begin to collect for damages and that will send a warning to the other tag teams, the G-Teams, the parade of parasites connected to the protection industry for profit and in order to keep their jobs.
Now the issue is to sue the pants off all involved where this started:
Doctors at Boston Children's, however, said they thought her symptoms were psychologically induced, and diagnosed Justina with somatoform disorder, a mental disorder.
Boston Children's officials reported their suspicions of medical child abuse, and the state then refused to release Justina to her parents.
