Shameka
M. Curry, 37, of Prenzler Drive, Bloomington, is accused of failing to
provide the woman with adequate care, including taking her to medical
appointments, and to provide adequate nutrition.
The alleged neglect occurred between Nov. 1, 2016 and March 12, 2017, according to the charges. The woman died in May 2017.
Curry also is charged with theft of
more than $10,000 from the Illinois Department of Rehabilitation,
aggravated identity theft and financial exploitation of an elderly
person by fraudulently obtaining $350 from the woman, said prosecutors.
Information on a financial statement filed in court by Curry indicates she is a licensed practical nurse.
Curry
was released from jail after posting $15,035 on the felony charges that
carry up to 14 years in prison if she is convicted.
