CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Kingsville Police Department needs your help identifying a woman who they say is targeting the elderly community in a life insurance policy scam.
Investigators tell us this woman is going door to door around the city impersonating a life insurance company employee to defraud vulnerable community members.
She's now stolen from $20 to over $200 dollars from several unsuspecting residents who are accustomed to making cash payments.
While officers say they do not know the total amount she's taken they are trying to stop her before she does any more harm.
"It's a degree of theft, it's exploitation of the elderly," said Kingsville PD. "It is a serious offense of the felony, I believe it's a 3rd degree felony."
"I think it's really disappointing that people could really go and steal from the elderly...especially knowing that person like I did not expect that from somebody that I knew personally and was so close to," said an anonymous community member.
"At this time we know of at least 6 people who have been scammed by this female and we believe there's possibly more," said Kingsville PD. "If you feel you're a victim or you witnessed or you know of somebody who's a victim we're gonna be taking statements and doing interviews."
That information could bring investigators closer to catching the woman. Kingsville PD says she has been seen driving a red or maroon 4-door car.
If you know anything you're urged to contact Kingsville police at 361-592-4311 or if you would like to remain anonymous, 361-592-INFO.
