Archie Sorth can't buy food or go to the doctor without asking for money from his court-appointed guardian, Sharon Mehrtens.
Sorth, 76, wakes before 6 a.m. most days in his downtown Belleville apartment above the Oregon Trail Roasting Co. coffee shop. He helps his landlady, owner Andrea Cox, by pulling chairs off tabletops and sweeping the sidewalk.
A former steamfitter and welder and a U.S. Army veteran, Sorth walks to Belleville pantries for food, Cox said, and does odd jobs for small amounts of money.
Mehrtens declined to discuss Sorth's case specifically, citing confidentiality. But, when speaking generally about her cases, she said, "When you have people with mental illness, you can't hand them cash."

It's about time somebody is making a serious attempt looking into this scam. Sharon Mehrtens is a crook she must be investigated from day ONE Sharon and her gang of thieves. This is like a probate chop shop running out of control with court approval.
Where is the accounting? Where is the money? Hmmmmmmmmm?
This elder war vet and laborer still doing odd jobs has to ask his GUARDIAN? for money from his pension and social security to buy things his odd jobs won't pay?

For making this assinine statement, Sharon Mehrtens should be removed from Archie Sorth's case. Now.
In my opinion, Sharon Mehrtens has slaves, must be the new American way?
How she and others like her get away with this is mindboggling, oh, I forgot it's all with court approval, so if a judge says it's okay, that make this right?
I say NO! This is not right. This must stop!
Unfortunetly, court appointed is not always the case. I was assigned a guardian through the VA without good explanation. It was never decided through court, only briefly mentioned on a prior c&p exam ( with no specific explanation of why). I was never given the chance to respond. Outside doctors letters refuting their claim were ignored for years. In fact, they did not acknowledge receipt even after multiple attempts to mail/fax.
I was lucky enough enough to defer Sharon Mehrtens from becoming my guardian initially(the VA did not like this). My father was assigned, but eventually the VA, after multiple false accusations of improperly handling my funds, appointed Sharon Mehrtens. Luckily, I was able to videotape one of her "stalking" episodes, and she was removed before she ever recieved my next VA payment.
I tried to get help from one of her other clients that lived near me when she wouldn't return my calls about these matters. He passed away that week, and I was unable to receive any info about her from him, other than he was terrified of her.
I was told by other individuals that she threatened their life, and was able to do whatever she wanted to due to political advantage. Her brothers a mayor or something, on top of her own work.
As unfortunate as it is that Sharon Mehrtens is such a horrible citizen, it is a part of life that many are aware of, the kind of scum that crawls out from under the deepest rocks. I am more upset that our government allows such treatment. They always claim that their whole role of legislation is for our benefit, and the only benefit that comes from their choices is $$$ in some shape or form. Even worse, many people have known this from the dawn of time, almost every society has been run this way. Not enough people see to care to be any influence on it. I am embarrassed to be at the mercy of such a cruel and manipulative entity, and that I'm surrounded by others affected by this that do nothing. Play your video games, watch your sports, don't forget your favorite daytime and prime time special. Intoxicate your misery in your chosen poison and live blind to the fact that life is limited because nobody stands up.

Archie Sorth Died Feb, 2, 2012. Archie's dignity was stripped form him here on earth but he will be crowned in heaven.
Sharon Mehrten is still abusing others and will til the say she dies. The courts dont care. Its all a big cover up.
I know alot about Sharon Mehrten and her gang. I was threatened by her attorney a few times for attempting to get help for Archie.
Archie was not some mental moron like hes been made out to be. I wish that one day the whole truth would come out about this monster who tears peoples lives apart.
