At 4 years old, Alessandra Villalobos spends nearly all of her time confined to a bed. She is severely brain-damaged, can neither walk nor talk and is at the center of a medical malpractice lawsuit and a custody fight waged in two Nashville courts.
The child-custody case is complex because of the girl's extraordinary health conditions. Alessandra requires round-the-clock nursing care. The result, lawyers say, of a medical mishap when she was 3 that forever altered her life. If the lawsuit is successful, it could provide millions of dollars to cover the cost of her care.
But the battle over the child is complicated even more because her mother, Ingrid Diaz, is in the country illegally and facing deportation while her daughter was born in the U.S. and is an American citizen.
Diaz, who moved from Mexico to Nashville five years ago, says she wants to keep her child but is willing to relinquish custody if it's in her daughter's best interests.
Speaking through an interpreter: "All I want is what's best for her, and if other people think that she should be with someone else, I'm willing to accept that, as long as it's best for Alessandra."
A local nurse has been fighting for custody of Alessandra for the past seven months. The nurse, Amanda Stinnett, once cared for the girl while Diaz was facing a drug charge that eventually was dismissed.

Alessandra Villalobos's mother doesn't realize it, but winning the suit will take her daughter away from them.
The fact that she is here illegally will only make it easier.
They'll keep her around until the money comes in and then they'll defame her and deport her.
And the nurse who filed for custody (guardianship) will get the custody part, but no control.
This reminds me of our own ex-attorney. He has an ardc complaint against him for seeking guardianship of a man who had no need of a guardian but was the subject of a large lawsuit in a claim against UPS regarding an accident. It is all about $$$$.
I often wish our loss loved one was poor, it would have saved her for us. Instead we lost her to estate conservation via an anti-psychotic and the right to refuse to eat. Deadly.
I am sorry for Alessandra Villalobos. When the suit is won, she will be used as a pawn in order to get to the money.
They will convince this mother to give up the child "for what's best for her". And the sad thing is they don't care about the child, they just want to get to the money.
I hope that the Laws of Justice has eyes!!!! I know the said "nurse" in this case and she doesn't keep her own children let alone wanting custody of someone else's child. Questioinable character to say the least. Who's doing background checks on the nurse??? Money is truly the root of all evil...especially in this case. Prayerfully, the mother will prevail.
YES !!!YOU ARE ABSOUTLEY RIGHT.. ABOUT THIS ONE.. THE NURSE AMANDA STINNETT SHE HAS HAD 8 OF HER OWN CHILDREN AND HAS ADOPTED OUT ALL BUT MAYBE 3 OF THEM.. HAS BEEN MARRIED SEVERAL TIMES..SHE IS A WELL KNOWN CON ARTIST, I AM SURPRISED THAT HER PAST IS JUST NOW CATCHING UP TO HER..THIS CHILD DEFINITLEY NEEDS SOMEONE ELSE..There must be background checks done on these people, you are turning these children over to a much worse situation..why do you think she flew the coop, because they were beginning to catch her on tenn care fraud ..they still need to check into that, i am sure they will be surprised at what they will find out..
