Hearst in Conservatorship

The supervision of Phoebe Hearst Cooke’s care and estate is now in the hands of her twin brother and her nephew.

Judge Teresa Estrada-Mullaney ruled Wednesday that George Hearst Jr. and his son, George Hearst III, are the new conservators for the 81-year-old granddaughter of newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst.

Estrada-Mullaney ruled after brief comments from attorneys that Cooke’s cognitive state and paranoia make her vulnerable to fraud and undue influence.

Cooke’s family members will oversee her personal care and fortune, estimated to be worth $2 billion.

I am sorry for Phoebe Hearst Cooke - and for her family.

After the limelight settles, the court will call them in and say they're doing a good job for Ms. Cooke, but "they" can do better.

And they'll remove the Cooke relatives and assign the public guardian.

It's coming.

Phoebe Hearst Cooke could not have predicted how her life would be in her golden years.

Years ago, our family toured the Hearst estate - magnificent!

Let's see how George Hearst Jr. and his son, George Hearst III manage Ms Cooke's care and finances.

I wonder how long before the lawyers figure out a way to get in on this fortune.

I was hoping Phoebe Hearst Cooke would escape conservatorship, and I am sorry to see her now a Ward of the State.

I'm sorry for Ms Phoebe Hearst Cooke and her family as they struggle
with the courts to do
what's right. Unfortunately, once the courts get involved with family issues too often they make it more emotionally and financially traumatizing. There is a large fortune at stake and too many unscrupulous Judges/ Attorneys/Guardians/
Conservators who are 'professionals' with their own agendas that aren't in the best interests of citizens and their family's.
