Who Protects and Serves When the Elderly are Fleeced?

Nine months ago, before my mother passed away, before this horror show (my awareness of my parents' money being stolen right out from under everyone's noses) began, if anyone had suggested to me just how easy it is to steal from the elderly and just how often it happens -- AND how unattainable justice is after the fact -- I think I might have gasped incredulously but privately I'd probably have reassured myself with something like, "It's a terrible crime, of course, but it could not possibly happen with that kind of frequency. Surely, in this great country of ours, such horrendous and flagrant violations of the law could not possibly go unpunished!"

And guess what? I'd have been dead wrong. This is not Law and Order, and it will not get neatly wrapped up at the end of sixty minutes. In fact, hard a pill as it is for me to swallow, I now know it will never get wrapped up, neatly or otherwise. Hence the birth of my upcoming film, Last Will and Embezzlement -- a feature-length documentary which delves deeply into the topic of elder exploitation. I had to something ...

PLEASE STOP CALLING THIS AN ELDER ISSUE. This judicial financial exploitation has become the biggest business in the world. The State courts have become so confident in the corruption that they are flagrant in their abuse of due process and all protective legislation. And this is NOT JUST AN 'ELDER'ISSUE' issue, those that perpetrate this will suck ANYONE at ANY AGE for ANY REASON into a guardianship and pilfer every last penny of their income and estate. The biggest initial hurdle is educating the public. And this is hard because no one believes that this can actually happen in America and people don't think that it will happen to them...until it does, and the 'guardianship cartel' has the power of authority. There is easily over a 100 trillion $ to be had by this legalized judicial exploitation and that is why these laws that remove a person's Constitutional Rigths are protected.

People aka predators are laying in wait for their prey, easy targets, the vulnerable, the elderly citizens of our society.

I believe it is our responsibility and duty to stand up and shout out loud when we see or know of wrong being done.

The problem is: Is anyone listening?

Certainly those who are advoctes for the elderly we have their full attention but what about the duty of the 'main street' press and media?

Where are they? Is that the sound of silence?

Who is next?

i thought fairness and justice was the reason people took their cases to the court system. but probate law is just the opposite. hard to believe that an atty can charge you thousands of dollars for doing basically nothing..and even more absurd is they get it.
