A family was stunned to learn that their father had been dead and buried for a month after they recently paid a visit to the La Porte Healthcare Center where he was staying. "I said, 'I'm here to see my father, George Howard,'" Georgia Robinson said in an interview with KHOU 11 News. "She (the nurse) said George Howard passed over a month ago. At that point I just fell against the wall and went to screaming." Howard was in the Harris County guardianship program due to mental illness.

Outrageous!
By LAW they don't have to tell anyone?????? What BULL!!!!! I hope she sues these awful people!!! I hope they sue this guardianship company. These guardians are such sadistic and uncaring people. How they go to sleep at night I will never know!
What a terrible thing to do to families. And what's sickening is bad guardians get by with it.
Stories like this make my blood boil.
Sympathies to the family of George Howard.
Over 10 years of experience in this is don't hear anything new in this situation I've heard this many times before even when contact information on family is in the record. Usually, the ward is cremated (best way to save funds and destroy evidence if crimes have been committed) on order of the guardian / the conservator it's part of their plan in their play book page 1.
I JUST BET GEORGE HOWARD'S FAMILY NEVER WOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED AT ALL.
WAS FAMILY LISTED IN THE RECORDS? I BET THEY WERE.
Thank you for posting, NASGA. Shame on everyone involved in this. I'm with Diane, ther's no excuse for this kind of cruelty. George Howard deserved better.
What a terrible way to find out ones father had died. And worse than that, he died alone without the comfort of his family.
oh sure this is in the best interest of the ward right? what a bunch of liars characteristics of sociopaths how would you like to have this happen to you? karma to all of these miscreants wishing them heartache and misery ten fold
Horror. Texas needs to step up its laws and require investigations into unexpected, neglectful, violent or suspicious deaths of vulnerable adults. One must wonder why family wasn't in touch for a month, although some guardians intimidate and alienate.
Sad situation, Seems like she didn't have time for him while he was alive, didn't do so much as to call him or call the facility to check on him in at least over a month, but she may be able to profit from his passing.
