Robert Slatkin, who got the cash back from a good Samaritan shopper during the busy Christmas season in 2009, a story covered in The Post, has allegedly been the opposite of generous toward his widowed mom.
The 65-year-old Upper East Side resident “has been guilty of the most grievous elder abuse, by means of undue influence, threats and intimidation,” Thelma Slatkin says in the new Manhattan civil suit.
Thelma, a Yorkville resident, was mourning the death of her husband in 2010 when her younger son allegedly started grabbing her assets.
Thelma “was unable to resist the threats, screaming and harassment” by her son, according to the suit.
Specifically, the son warned his mom that he would “have her committed to an institution” or put her in a “terrible nursing home” if she did not give in to his demands.
Robert, who runs a fitness and nutrition business, forced his mom to give him a 50 percent share in her $2 million, Boca Raton, Fla., vacation home, according to court papers.
He also allegedly forged Thelma’s signature on checks, stole her diamond ring and pressured her to sign a will that gave him her entire estate, disinheriting his older brother.
This is the second time Thelma has sued her son. She settled a 2014 case with similar claims.
Robert told The Post his mother settled the first suit because he provided mountains of evidence refuting the allegations.
“I have nothing to hide,” Robert said, explaining that his mom has dementia and accusing her attorney, Jack Dweck, of manipulating her.
“Her short-term memory is absolutely horrendous,” Robert said.
Dweck argued that Thelma is perfectly healthy, but otherwise declined to comment.
Reached by telephone at her York Avenue home, Thelma said she didn’t remember signing the lawsuit. During the short phone conversation she repeated herself multiple times.
