"Independence is everything for people," said Alexandra Herold, founder of Patti + Ricky.
Harold's website, pattiandricky.com, specializes in adaptive items and clothing for people living with disabilities or medical conditions, including the elderly.
"They have to be more independent because they can’t have home health aids," explains Herold.
Herold said since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, older individuals and those living with disabilities are finding their regular caregivers called to other medical duties, including the simple need to stay away as a practice of social distancing.
From medical organizers to clothing items with magnetic closures instead of tricky buttons or zippers, she's hoping her items can help -- from the person seeking more independent in the absence of a home healthcare worker to the family member stepping up to fill the roll.
“There’s so much change for individuals with disabilities and the elderly right now,” says Herold. "Change is hard for anyone."
