Lifelong factory worker Dorothy “Dot” Williams saved, signed a will with durable power of attorney, set up a $300,000 annuity and took out home health insurance to avoid having to go to a nursing home. Yet that’s where she is — in a cramped, semiprivate room, where she shares a bathroom with three others.
Williams is a ward of the state, diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and declared legally incompetent at the request of her estranged daughter, who had been removed from the mother’s will. And because her court-appointed guardian decided it was for the best, she has been placed in a nursing home despite paying for round-the-clock coverage for home health care.
Previously, Williams had a neat, well-appointed room with a private bath, sun porch and closed-circuit camera for security at the home of her son, Randy Clark. In 2007, Williams had given her son power of attorney, and he hired home health aides to take care of his mother 24 hours a day.
But things grew complicated once the court system got involved, after Williams was declared incompetent. Instead of her certified nursing assistants being paid through health insurance claims, the certified nursing assistants and the son were reimbursed sporadically by personal check through a court-appointed estate guardian.
When Williams’ last CNA left on maternity leave, the son could not hire a replacement, unsure of when the worker would get paid. Clark said of his mother’s wish to stay at home: “It would have been a piece of cake, but if they’re not paying for your wages or your supplies, they’re basically starving you out. I have to be there basically 24/7.”
The court-appointed guardian of the estate, attorney Wanda Daughtry, said she cannot discuss finances of clients, and in September petitioned to resign from the case.
Attorney Daughtry received a $5,830 commission. Williams may also have to pay the $14,830 in attorneys’ fees, including the services of a private detective, that her daughter incurred in getting Williams declared incompetent.

There is only one solution to the problem when family members do battle: Make them all CO-guardians and not one can do anything without the consent of the other(s)!
This is a crying shame -- a pitiful example of the how low guardians can stoop.
The judge on this case should be held accountable for the damage done by the guardian to this vulnerable woman and her family.

Now I wonder if she petitioned to resign because she started feeling some heat or because she's eaten up the estate??
This is big business, business as usual and as the economy gets worse the old, sick folks are nothing more than a source of money for the mobsters in this nationwide organized crime of probate racket under the label of: guardianship.
In reality this is: SICK! CRIMINAL! UN-AMERICAN! and A NATIONAL DISGRACE!
The thing people fear most is being forced into a nursing home.
To do that to a person is the worst thing that can be done, short of killing him/her.

Most prisoners, who are guilty of crimes, have hopes of being released after they serve their time, the others who have life sentences, still have many freedoms and due process that wards do not have.
Once a ward is sentenced to a nursing home the ward will leave this world as a prisoner of a nursing home.

Nursing homes use dangerous mind altering drugs on the patients as a means of controlling them. In the petition that my sisters filed to get a guardianship of my mother, the document said that my mother was suffering from memory loss, and a few paragraphs later said she was being given a drug called Neurontin. One of the side effects of this drug was memory loss. My mother could walk and talk when she left the house but could do neither after less than six weeks in the nursing facility.
How about when a daughter is there to help her mom with rides to the store etc and basically she is there to enjoy the company of her mom and help her if she needs help and the family can enjoy life together.
Then the visiting nurses come in after the mom was drugged after a hospital stay. The visiting nurses call the adult protective services and then eventually mom is forced into a home against the mom's and daughter's wishes. She later went into the hospital due to heart problems from the drug allergy that she was still trying to recover from. At that point she was forced into a nursing home to be killed. There was a power of attorney who went along with what ever the nurses said because he was also threatened.
Maybe it was some kind of scam to get the mom's money. I don't know if they took out a life insurance policy because they sure seemed to want to kill her.There was no reason to kill her. There never is.
She went to the nursing home and from that time she got there she was given deadly narcotics that she was allergic too and against her will. They tricked her and the daughter to give her the narcotics. Her hospital yeast infection continued to get worse.
The daughter had tried before to get mom treatment several different times before she was forced into the nursing home.She was even admitted to the hospital to treat this hospital yeast skin infection when she was with the daughter. The daughter did everything in her power to treat the infection by taking mom to the hospital and the dr. No one would treat it or even give any suggestions about what to do.This was before mom was forced into the home. Instead they took her away from her home and family and said that the daughter could not take care of the infection and the mom needed 24 hour professional care. It was in the only nursing home that would take open wounds. It was that special care that killed her between the untreated infection that went sepsis and the deadly narcotics. There was also other nursing home abuse. They not only forced her to take narcotics and forced her to use a diaper and confined her to a wheel chair. She also got at least one head injury. When she got this head injury the daughter had to insist that she go to the hospital because the staff did not want her to go. All this abuse continued to get worse in the nursing home until she was put into the hospital to get a surgery check. She had to wait for her dr and while she was waiting she was drugged into a coma against her will and the abuse continued in the hospital. Mom never did come out of that coma The hospital was right next door to the nursing home. Maybe they worked together in abusing her.Then the infection went sepsis and all this time mom was fighting to stay alive and they were not able to kill her in spite of them trying to kill her with drugs and untreated infection that went sepsis. The daughter finally got the dr to treat the sepsis and the skin was almost cleared but she was supposed to stay on the meds for at least 14 days to a month. She was taken off the meds after 2 days. She then went to the other hospital for the surgery check and she was given medicine that made her infection worse. That was the only meds they gave her not even oxygen when her lungs were shutting down from drugs and sepsis and the wrong medicine that they gave her. They finally managed to kill her. Such a senseless killing. I guess most killings are. This was in southern california. It just does not make sense at all. Too many things happened to make it seem like her killing was by accident. Then they wanted to make it look like she died from natural causes. They just wanted to rub a little more salt in the wound of the family. You would think that enough damage was done.

my mother went into the hospital because she fell and broke her hip. my mother lived with her friend on and off for 30 years, they were like sisters. when i went to the hospital they nade up lies that my mom was dirty not had a bath in months they said,but i found out her ade gave her a bath the day before she broke her hip. I really don't understand why they lied. The state took my mom and now i can't get her home. before the state of arkansas took my mom she could walk and feed herself now she cant do either. I wanted to bring her home for the holidays they won't even let me do that. The state of arkansas is killing my mom, and iam helpless to stopo them. My mother only had ssi she has very little money, but they won't let me take her home. I have prayed and i still pray, but this hasn't worked either. I know they are druging my mom...no one cares
Bonnie (and anyone else going thru this) I am so so very sorry to hear of this. If U can afford an Attorney, do so! If not, seek Lawyers who will take your case pro-bono. Get you a ton of stamps and start writing letters to every Lawyer out there in your area. Write letters to your congress persons and the Attorney General. Write to the GOV and Senator. Write write write! Start a petetion and get signatures. Start a website or homepage about this. Dont give up! There is services out there for this, and, there is money there too! Just dont give up! Im not sure about all the laws and ordiances there in your State but if you would email me, I will see what it is I can do from my end to assist you. This type of crap makes me so ill. Seriously. I get sick and tired of lies and embellishing that takes place to support their cause which renders you and your mother helpless. Especially with what she did PRIOR to this happening to PREVENT something like this from happening. Where did the money go then? She has rights not to mention there is paperwork atop that. My name is William Keele I took care of my mom fore three years every day she 80 years old my sister was taking my mom's food money and her meds selling them and controlling her money my mom went in to true self neglect long story short it was very sad . So I had over 30 people come in my house to help me A.P.S. Frontier Behavioral Health C.A.R.E.S. my door open so what happened my mom went to the hospital The next day I went to go see my mom she was in restraints WOW they were experimenting with her meds .OK I told them what kind of med's she take's they gave her medication my mom was perfect the next day I went to see my mom she was in restraints again I told the Dr. my mom had court in two days so my mom's court ap. attorney told me they were going to hold off my mom's court date OK they lied to us had court with out us my mom is now ward of state we both lost are rights no P.N.A' my mom is not going to die in that nursing home bed FACTS Washington failed practice standards I need help
