U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) announced he has been appointed to four U.S. Senate committees that deal with issues ranging from federal expenditures to the elderly.
Special Committee on Aging: With the Baby Boom population now hitting retirement age, the Special Committee on Aging studies issues, conducts oversight and investigates reports of fraud and abuse. The Committee also reviews Medicare’s performance, pension coverage and employment opportunities for older Americans. It also has conducted oversight of major programs such as Social Security. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services estimates more than 1.5 million Illinois residents—or 12 percent of the state’s population—are over the age of 65. By 2020, the agency estimates the over-65 population will grow to 31 percent of the state’s population.

This is good news for the state of Illinois!
I'm glad to see new faces on this committee. Perhaps they can light a fire under Kohl!
Congratualtions! Senator Kirk.
I hope your contributions and efforts to the Senate Special Committee on Aging makes a difference.
We are counting on YOU!
This is good news for the USA!
My wish is that Senator Kirk would have a very long lunch with Senator Herb Kohl who is holding up progress in guardianship reform.
Eyes wide open are on this issue it's now or never for Senator Kohl to do the right thing; it's time to fix the broken system the Boomers are next in line and we aren't going down without a hell of a fight.
I hope a fresh face brings new ideas and enthusiasm!
We're counting on you, Senator Kirk!
the good senator from illinois has personal knowledge about the guardianship racket i hope senator kirks eyes are wide open and he is outraged at what he knows with high energy level to get the job done
I hope and pray that as his Illinois constituents reach out to him to protect the elderly disabled, that he listens to their concerns, and agrees to an investigation into the alleged behaviors occuring in the Cook County courthouse.
Perhaps as Senator, he will feel compelled to help.
The concerns are real, and shared by many. Evidence is strong and well documented. Numerous cases share the same patterns of scheme and design.
Please listen, Senator Kirk. Please be an advocate for the elderly disabled who are under guardianships in Cook County.
