"Columbo" Placed in Conservatorship

A judge placed former "Columbo" star's Peter Falk in a conservatorship to ensure his daughter could occasionally visit the ailing 81-year-old actor.

Falk's wife of more than 30 years, Shera, will remain in control of his personal care and affairs. Falk has advanced dementia, likely from Alzheimer's disease, one of his doctors testified.

Catherine Falk petitioned in December to take over her father's affairs despite a sometimes contentious relationship with Falk and his wife. By court order, she will be allowed a 30-minute visit with her father every other month.

I am sorry for Peter Falk. What a travesty.

This is a true example of attorneys leading lambs to the slaughter.

Wake Up America! This could happen to you.

Who would have ever guessed or imagined that Peter Falk, our beloved Columbo would end up like this?

The guaurdianship system depends on funding from their wards in order to feed their greed.

Very sad, sorrowful circumstances.

When will we see real protection of the vulnerable?

The attorneys led the Falk family right into the fire. Oh, they don't know it yet, but the flames will heat up and they'll get burned.

Too bad. Too bad mostly for Peter Falk.

We loved him as Columbo -- now he's completely defenseless and at the mercy of the state.

It makes me cry to think about this end for Peter Falk.

It won't be long and we'll be reading that he's penniless.

Members of NASGA predicted that this would happen when the story was first in the news. It's amazing how the ending is always the same.
