Indicted County Judge Still Paid Salary

The LaPorte County judge suspended in May after being indicted has been getting paid ever since.

According to our reporting partners at the Herald Argus, the state has paid 34-year-old Jennifer Evans-Koethe almost $70,000 in salary since her suspension.

Evans-Koethe is facing criminal charges for obstruction of justice and judicial misconduct.

She's accused of lying about a shooting in her home last year.

If convicted, Evans-Koethe could be removed from the bench by the state Supreme Court.

Her trial will start in Lake County in January.

Ridiculous and yet another example why there is no respect for the "justice" system.

If I am not mistaken this judge was newly-elected and had not even taken the bench when this incident happened.

Just shows to go ya the type of personalities that get elected to these positions of power .... word is she was drunk, and obviously drunk on the idea of her power.

May she go to jail without passing go ... too bad the taxpayer already got clipped. Perhaps someone should sue her for unjust enrichment?
