Margarita is allowed almost no visitation with her family. Phone calls are often restricted.
Elder advocates attempting to make contact with Margarita found multiple locks on the front door. Administrator Margaret Eldred Camara told advocates she would call the police if they did not leave. Camara said her instructions to unlawfully confine and isolate Margarita were issued by Deputy Public Guardian Jennifer Empasis.
The National Association to STOP Guardian Abuse (NASGA) is a human rights organization that opposes abusive guardianships. NASGA president Elaine Reniore sent the following open letter to Deputy Public Guardian Empasis.

Isolation is a terrible act committed by fiduciaries, and the courts do nothing to prevent it.

The pattern of ISOLATION as common procedure is epidemic a national pattern of operation.
Isolation along with restricted visitation is abusive treatment of any human being.
Isolation to a senior citizen is elder abuse causing harm and in some cases the loss of persons from their pre-guardianship life causes major depression and illnesses, leading to a miserable hopeless feeling about life.
Many of our seniors are dying alone and afraid leaving this earth wondering why they were forgotten and abandoned.
Do you think for one minute that the Guardian or Conservator tells the WARD why?
Do you think for one minute that the ones in control of the WARD are truthful and honest?
This type of behavior is despicable. We all need to send a letter to this evil human being expressing our outrage. I plan to send one this week.
I think the isolation issue is the most heinous part of this ordeal It has to be worse than the worst hellish nightmare for our loved ones to contend with on an unimaginable scale. - Beyond comprehension... This is torture to the bitter end. Only MONSTERS who love to see suffering would ever do this to a human being!!! For me, it's the hardest part to deal with because I feel my loved one's pain right with her. It's killing me to picture her feeling so abandoned, lonely, and utter hopelesnesss. How can this be allowed? How can it be justified? A total stranger owns you, sells your house, steals and loots all your belongings, cuts you off from the world, keeps you drugged, likely treats you like an animal because they know you hate them for what they've done to you. In turn, the guardian hates you too. - It's the only way they can justify kidnapping, stealing,deprevation torture, and murder, all in the name of greed.
