Elderly Sues Judge Seidlin

An 83-year-old woman has filed a lawsuit against former Broward Circuit Judge Larry Seidlin over accusations that Seidlin exploited her frail health for personal gain.

Barbara Kasler's suit also lists Seidlin's wife, Belinda, and his in-laws, Barbara and Oren Ray, as defendants.

The lawsuit was filed less than a month after the state ended an elderly-abuse investigation and found no wrongdoing in Seidlin's relationship with Kasler, a wealthy, bed-ridden widow who is his neighbor in the Marine Tower condominiums on Las Olas Boulevard.

That investigation was triggered in March after Kasler's niece and a caregiver jointly called the state's elder-abuse hotline, alleging neglect and financial exploitation by Seidlin, his wife and his mother-in-law.

I am pleased to see Barbara Kasler sue former Broward Circuite judge Larry Seidlin. However, I am sure the cards are all stacked against her.

Judge Larry Seidlin will get out of this too because the brethern protect each other.

Sad to say but already evidenced by the investigation "results".

Remember, the caregiver was in on the call to report Judge Larry Seidlin for taking advantage of Barbara Kasler. So, it's just not family complaining.

The Court of Public Opinion feels Judge Larry Seidlin is guilty of taking advantage of Barbara Kasler.

He could certainly make amends if he was a decent man --- he could pay her back the money, and perhaps $1K more and all parties could part company -- never to see each other again.

Why do I have the strong, disgusting sick feeling the Seidlin's with judge Larry Seidlin calling the shots have done this scheme before?

I hope the civil process proves that this case needs to be REVISITED by the Broward county prosecutors for criminal trial, or better yet the FL attorney general's office needs to jump in this case.

I also have a very strong feeling that this judge might have taken money, gifts for himself or his family or friends while he was a sitting judge and that I believe would fall into federal jurisdiction.

I suggest all of his cases be audited and reviewed.
