Lawyers Set to "Square Off"

Lawyers for Michael Jackson and his family on Sunday prepared to square off in a courtroom hearing over control of the singer's estate as media reports mounted about powerful drugs that may have contributed to his death.

One legal expert predicted the existence of a 2002 will signed by Jackson means his mother, 79-year-old Katherine Jackson, will likely be forced to give up temporary control she now has over his affairs.

Attorney Michael G. Dave: "Given the existence of the will and the expression of Michael's intentions, the only likely outcome is Katherine's powers will be terminated and she will no longer have any power to deal with the estate."

Katherine Jackson was granted temporary administrator of her son's affairs last week before the will became known.

It puts his estate, which in an attachment is valued at more than $500 million, into a family trust that benefits his three children, his mother, and charities.

I can imagine the lawyers all gathered at the local bar - toasting to their good fortune.

The shame here is that the grandmother is about to lose all her rights to her own grandchildren.

Did the lawyers bring trucks to carry their money? Michael Jackson represents mega millions after death. Makes me sick - it's always about the money.

Today is Michael Jackson's memorial - it's sad to think that on the side, the lawyers are getting revved up to enjoy the upcoming battle.

Yes, the lawyers have dollar signs in their eyes, they are anticipating hitting the biggest lotto all in the name of the late Michael Jackson. I watched the news to see his daughter speaking about her "dad" at the services, she touched my heart.

I watched most of the Jackson memorial today too and couldn't help but think that the circus is just beginning.

The kids for sure will get the short end of the stick. Too bad -- it's not what Michael Jackson would have wanted for his children.

The world is watching the greedy vultures in the USA lining up for their share of gold before the source, Michael Jackson, of the money is buried.

I wonder what the rest of the world thinks about us Americans?

Who do we hold responsible for this shameful display of greed?

Who do we blame?
