Disbarred, Disgraced, and Going to Federal Prison for 30 Years

Disbarred and disgraced attorney Troy A. Titus was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for defrauding clients and friends out of more than $8 million, money a judge said the victims will never see again.

The 44-year-old father of six wept as he tried to explain himself before U.S. District Judge Raymond A. Jackson and a courtroom filled with family and friends. Other than blaming his swelled pride, Titus was at a loss.

"I wish there was something I could do to explain it," he said. "I guess I got to the point where I completely lost sight of reality."

A federal jury in December convicted Titus of 33 felonies, finding that he had operated a Ponzi scheme that cost his victims around $8 million in losses. The government now says the total fraud amounted to nearly $12 million.

Calling Titus "an economic sociopath," Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Moore asked the judge to put Titus behind bars for the rest of his life. While the judge did not do that, Titus will be well past retirement age when he is released, unless he wins his appeal.

I believe most predators are sociopaths to some degree.

Yes, Betty most predators are sociopaths - no conscience and worse.

Troy A. Titus earned and deserves 30 years in a cage - without early release.

His family gained from his scheme too. I wonder if the feds were able to seize all the "stuff" he purchased with stolen money.

His crimes are very serious, he financially killed his clients, his victims. This is a no brainer, the victims will certainly suffer from medical problems and early deaths due to Titus' leaving the victims financially ruined.

I hope and pray Troy Titus is absolutely miserable, hates the prison food, can't stand the constant noise, no quiet time, bothersome cell, ates and the odors of his new home, on his prison cell block. I hope his mattress is rock hard and he is staring at a toilet that he will use in open view. All of this is not nearly enough puishment none of this will make his victim's "whole" again.

I read where Titus' defense attorney wanted house confinement thank God the judge didn't buy this bs story of remorse.

We can only pray that others with criminal minds will feel fear and see this as a consequence for their crimes and also stop others from thinking about taking advantage of others.

This is a terrible tragedy for ALL the peolple involved- mostly his children. Reading the other comments it occurred to me that "sociopaths" are entitled to treatment and sometimes cant help what they have done.I have seem peolple be more empathetic to mothers who have killed their children. This was about money. I cant believe that all the people were so naive, you cant get a 25% return from any bank. I believe everybody was guilty of greed. It is my understanding that he UNLIKE Madoff and other scam artists had no money and was not living the "rich life style." I think he should be rehabilitated-he suffered from ADHD and lets remeber he did not kill, rape or physically assault anybody 30 years is a little harsh!
