Gov. Rod Blagojevich was thrown out of office without a single lawmaker coming to his defense, brought down by a government-for-sale scandal that stretched from Chicago to Capitol Hill.
Blagojevich, accused of trying to sell Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat, becomes the first U.S. governor in more than 20 years to be removed by impeachment.
After a four-day trial, the Illinois Senate voted 59-0 to convict him of abuse of power, automatically ousting the second-term Democrat. In a second, identical vote, lawmakers further barred Blagojevich from ever holding public office in the state again.

This is a prime example of public corruption with legs into many agencies and many appointees who bought their positions for campaign contributions.
Good -- I'm just sorry it cost the state all that money to get rid of him.
The good thing is he's gone - the bad thing is the rest of them are probably no better.
Time will tell if Illinois is truly ready for reform. The corruption includes probate courts and guardianship abuses condoned by bureaucratic agencies.
Illinois NASGA must be ready to educate, speak out and lead reform.
Thanks to this great blog editor for the categorization of blog material. What a resource!
